About this ebook

When a plant buds and grows defective, is the fault in the soil or the seed? Which one is easier to believe? It's hard to tell whether it's easier to blame a family for a problem child, or the child for their own problems. It's hard to tell which is correct, too. And by the time this is even considered, it might be too late to matter, anyway.

For the child, though, even if it doesn't matter, it's a constant source of torment and hurt. From this hurt, wounds blossom, and wither, and blossom, and wither. This is a collection of some of such wounds, some long dead, some in full bloom.

    they say, open your mouth

i’m obedient. i open my mouth

    i stick my tongue out

    on it they place

    a cold needle

    pointing inwards, towards my throat

i flinch at the familiar taste

    i feel this horrid ache

    oh no - not again.

i know what they want me to do

i know what i’ll have to go through

    i swallow with difficult ease

    the cruel metal

    the devil’s fang

for it to sink into my chest

    from inside

i am not yet a swallower of swords
