This is an informational book appropriate for intermediate grade levels due to vocabulary. This book begins by introducing national parks, what they are, and the history behind them. Then it goes on to talk about Yellowstone as far as the geological features, especially geysers, and the animals that may live in Yellowstone. It talks about endangered species such as the gray wolf, as well as the climate during different times of year. Each page has an accompanying photograph of the park's corresponding feature. The book also goes on to talk about the different areas of the park, and historical journeys and fires in the park. The end of the book includes 'fast facts,' a glossary of terms, resources for further research, and an index. This is a good example of informational because of the factual information it provides, the real pictures included, and the resources provided in the back of the book. This book includes no indenitifiable elements of style as it is an informational book. This book would be useful in a study about the presidents, legislation, and creating meaningful connections between what they do and real things that have come from their actions. This book would also be useful in a study on the national parks, endangered animals, and different habitats. The media is photography.
