- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A super-powerful book that ultimately helps with stress and happiness. I read it when it first came out and decided that I needed a refresher during the Pandemic. I figured I might want to reread it, sometime in the future, so I ordered a beautiful hardcover copy for my library. It is fantastic and has helped me a lot with any anxiety I might have due to covid19. I realize Scott is speaking to those who are more familiar with Jesus. Great book I would buy copies for all my friends and family if I could afford to
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I find book inspiring and helpful. Caring what people think make us weak and you can lose yourself from just keep following people’s opinions. I would recommend this short read for young adults.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book essentially put into words and description the years of uneasiness, anxiety and restlessness I have felt along with low-grade depression. It made me realize that this is essentially an invention of my mind and that being resentful or angry about the past and anxious about the nonexistent future is what causes this feeling. By focusing on the moment, there is nothing to be concerned about, and the mind is quiet, and at peace which is the biggest takeaway, I have from the book. Another takeaway is that people will search their whole lives for happiness in money, material items, their job and other meaningless things but will never find it because this search is fruitless. Peace internal and can only be seen focusing on the now and what you are doing at the moment. Since reading this book, I have felt this great sense of peace and calmness daily. I think everyone on Earth should read this book, especially with everything that is going on in the world right now.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved reading this book! I think it’s very relatable, the way the author has described various instances and examples. However, implementing the same attitude in your life might be tricky and difficult. If you can implement it the way the author intends to, I think you would be on your path to a successful life. Great short read

The Power of Not Caring - Grace Scott
Introduction
––––––––
It is important to understand why we care about what people think. The part of our mind that produces this fear is often in place to protect us. For example, if we don't care what others think then we might go out and murder everyone we hate or run through shopping malls completely naked.
The real reason why we care what people think is because we base our identity on everyone's judgments of us. It doesn't matter whether the judgment is positive or negative. Because we think that part of our identity is how people view us, then we must protect that so our identity is not affected.
Lao Tzu once wrote, Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner.
At one point or another, we allow ourselves to become prisoners. We define our own limitations by thinking too much about people's perception of us. However, we simply cannot judge ourselves from the eyes of others.
Although it is true enough that there are some useful things you can pick up by listening to other people's feedback, thinking about these things too much may also become destructive. When you care too much, you will end up living your life in limbo. And that is nowhere near true living.
Caring too much about what others think, whether or not you realize it, is not helpful for your growth as a human being. You must care, but never to the point of sacrificing your own happiness just to get the approval of others. Ultimately, you should be in control of your own life. Do not let others dictate your path.
––––––––
Why exactly do people care too much?
––––––––
One of the main reasons is that we are afraid of being rejected. We cringe at the thought of disapproval. We ultimately want to belong and that makes us feel much better about ourselves. Another reason why we care too much is that we simply want to be viewed as important. This is why we seek positive attention, so we can be perceived
