Charming children's book about a little girl who's hamster escapes when she visits her grandmother.

The title - reminiscent of a detective novel with high stakes -- is wonderfully juxtaposed against the domestic drama of an animal-loving girl who attempts to keep a secret about a hamster, who is not supposed to be sleeping over at her Nana's house.I bought this for my six-year-old daughter, because she loves animals, love staying the night with her Nan, and loves spending time with cousins, but for some reason this didn't hold her attention. Anyone who thinks getting kids to love fiction is easy... Well, perhaps this was the wrong book at the wrong time.I enjoyed it, anyhow.
