    Chapter 1

    The Creation

God is the beginning. God is one, all powerful and perfect. God is good and is the only God. God mysteriously emanated into different aspects of this complete oneness, enabling the existence of others outside of God’s oneness. This separation of the one into pieces allowed creation and for God to continue with the creation of different worlds and various universes in the multiverse. The big bangs across the multiverse are physical, whereas God’s emanations are spiritual. These emanations became physical in this world and are perceived with the physical senses. God’s completeness is distant from people and creation, who cannot see God’s wholeness. God is as distant as other known and unknown galaxies and simultaneously as close as our thoughts. After the Bon Dieu's initial emanations, all existence was in the heavens above the surface of this newly created Earth.

Figure 1: Galaxies after the Big Bang

God is not male or female. God is one, perfect, and needs no other to create a life. All life is created by God’s will. God is the God of nature and requires no altars or images because everything that exists reflects God. God’s image is visible in everything from the complex to the mundane. God and God’s Mysteries are the hosts of the heavens. The Mysteries dance, and though individually, they are imperfect, when they dance together, they approach the perfection of their parent, God. God allowed creation to unfold on Earth. The mysterious emanations of God are like males and females. The Mysteries revolved around God in perfect harmony. God is indeed fullness and the very meaning of life. Life and the Mysteries exist because they are a part of God. After God created the Mysteries, they explored the fullness of this universe. In the Mysteries’ exploration, the emptiness of the Earth and the solar system was observed. The first Mystery to explore the Earth was Obbatala, the king of the white cloth.

Though the Mysteries had cosmic elemental power, they could not create as their parent had created, yet they were aspects of their parent. The first primordial being, or Irunmole, was Obbatala, and he was commanded to form life on this planet Aye (Earth). The primordial beings, the Orishas, were given specific direction from God to frame the world. The seniors among the blessed Orishas are the Irunmole. They are pure energy and are God's energy operating outside of God to serve God’s divine purpose. They Irunmole and Orishas are not gods or goddesses as God is. Obbatala observed the waters of the ocean covering Earth, and everything on Earth was covered with water. There was no land and no biological life on Earth, only sterile ocean in which life was to be created and from which life was to evolve. Obbatala reasoned that beings should enjoy existence in the manner that the Mysteries enjoyed their existence.

Life is beautiful. Obbatala was determined to spread life across the face of the deep. Following the will of his parent, Obbatala set forth to show the love he had experienced from his parent with other beings. Obbatala consulted with Orunmila, the wisest of the Orishas, who can see into the future and all realities across the multiverse. Obbatala was imperfect, as all emanations are imperfect. Only God is perfect. Orunmila was excited at the prospect of using his powers to help other beings and thus set forth to help Obbatala. Orunmila brought out a tray to determine the best strategy to assist Obbatala. The Mystery sprinkled some of the abundant dust used to form the celestial bodies on the tray. He then scattered sixteen asteroids across the tray several times.

He observed the patterns made and could provide Obbatala advice on how to proceed. Obbatala was told to gather the dust of the heavens, gold, seeds, and an egg. The Mystery Ogun smelted the gold metal into a chain with a hook. Obbatala thanked Ogun and called him by his heavenly name, Tobi Ode. Obbatala then gathered the other supplies from the other Lwa. Obbatala gathered all the supplies, descended to the Earth on the golden chain, and was suspended above the face of the deep.

Obbatala then scattered the dust of the heavens into the sterile ocean water using a conch shell the Mystery Yemanja had given to him. His heart beat with excitement. The beat of his heart and warmth of his body hatched the egg that Orunmila had advised him to bring along with him. The egg hatched, and from the egg, a bird flew out, flapping its wings furiously, seeking a place to roost. The bird was called Love. The furious flapping of the bird’s wings scattered the stardust evenly and caused the creation of landmasses, hills, valleys, mountains, and fjords. Once the dust had ceased to fall, Obbatala let go of the golden rope and set foot on dry land where the waters are divided, and the bird roosted on his shoulder. God was pleased.

Obbatala then began to explore the new lands. He walked through the various geological terrains, all the while randomly scattering the seeds over the land. Some seeds that were inappropriate for the terrain failed to grow, but those that were appropriate to the terrain flourished. Behind him, there were forests and deserts. Obbatala walked for seven days until he decided to rest. He needed rest, unlike God, who never rests. The Mystery was a creation and required rest after several days of work. How many days the Mystery worked cannot be determined; as it is understood, a millennium is as a day to God.

Obbatala rested next to a small pond and decided to taste the newly created freshwater. Upon doing so, he considered the water and beheld his reflection. He was pleased, and he tried calling to his reflection, as he thought his reflection was his parent. Recognizing it was only his reflection, he was pleased and decided to create people in his and consequently God’s image. He then used the stardust to establish the biological from the non-biological and the sentient from the non-sentient. The animal kingdom is created to be a partner with the plant kingdom, from single-celled organism to man; God created them, while Obbatala crafted them. Both the perfect specimens and the less-than-perfect beings were all created out of love. The newly formed fauna had no life, as only God can give life.

Knowing what had transpired, God sent a herald in the form of a chameleon to inquire about the Mystery’s progress. The herald reported that all was well, though Obbatala was saddened at the few misshapen bodies. God knows that all creation is imperfect. Some imperfections are physical and some spiritual, but God loves them all. God gathered the gasses and the complex elements from space, which is beyond the atmosphere. From these gasses, God formed a comet.

God sent the comet crashing into the newly formed Earth. The fiery impact introduced additional complex elements such as
