Jasmine has lived a normal life for years. When her distant aunt, Selena, passes away and leaves her an amulet, she doesn’t think much of it.

That all begins to change when the amulet gives her a vision of a distant land. Finding an engraving on the back, she decides to gather more information about the amulet Selena has given her. But things take a turn for the worse when Jasmine goes to the magic shop and meets Mason.

Now, being hunted by creatures that shouldn’t exist, Jasmine finds herself discovering a world that shouldn’t be possible. Magic and a new world lie in wait, if only Jasmine can outwit the fact that someone is coming after her amulet.

Informazioni sull'autore

Mark Mulle is a passionate Minecraft gamer who writes game guides, short stories, and novels about the Minecraft universe. He has been exploring, building, and fighting in the game ever since its launch, and he often uses in-game experiences for inspiration on creating the best fiction for fellow fans of the game.He works as an English teacher and splits his time between gaming, reading, and storytelling, three hobbies and lifelong passions that he attributes to a love of roleplaying, a pursuit of challenging new perspectives, and a visceral enjoyment the vast worlds that imagination has to offer. His favorite thing to do, after a long day of creating worlds both on and off the online gaming community, is to relax with his dog, Herobrine, and to unwind with a good book. His favorite authors include Stephen King, Richard A. Knaak, George R. R. Martin, and R. A. Salvatore, whose fantasy works he grew up reading or is currently reading. Just like in Minecraft, Mark always strives to level up, so to speak, so that he can improve his skills and continue to surprise his audience. He prefers to play massive multiplayer online games but often spends time in those games fighting monsters one on one and going solo against the toughest mobs and bosses he can manage to topple. In every game, his signature character build is a male who focuses mostly on crafting weapons and enchanting, and in every battle, he always brings a one hander sword and a shield with as much magical attributes as he can pour into them.Because he always plays alone, he likes to use his game guides to share all the secrets and knowledge he gains, and who know—he may have snuck some information into his fiction as well. Keep an eye out for his next book!

Chapter One

Jasmine tossed her bag on the bed and plopped down with a sigh. She could hear her parents talking downstairs in soft voices. They were planning her aunt’s funeral as they had been for the last couple of days.

Jasmine stretched out on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She hadn’t known her aunt, Selena. She had lived across the country. Her mother had always told that Selena was different from everyone else in the family; that she saw the world in a manner others didn’t. That was all the information Jasmine knew regarding her aunt.

Even so, she knew that her mom, Cathy, was upset about losing her sister. For once, Jasmine decided she would do her homework right away instead of waiting for her dad to lecture her about finishing it. Her parents deserved the break.

Yawning, she opened her backpack and pulled out her textbooks. Rummaging through her bag, she realized she had been holding her math book when she had gotten home and left it downstairs.

Jasmine opened her bedroom door and headed for the stairs. She was about to bounce down them when her mother’s voice caught her attention.

I am not being paranoid. You know – you know that it runs in the family and it skipped me. Her mom’s voice was quiet but urgent as if she was worried about something.

Jasmine knew she probably shouldn’t be listening on her parents talking. But something in her mom’s tone kept her stuck in place.

Her dad, Enrique, replied, So, what? You think just because Selena passed away that Jas will be next?

At the sound of her nickname, Jasmine crept down two of the steps and strained to hear the conversation. Why were they talking about her?

Her mother, Cathy, said, How can you not be concerned? You know how this works. And if Jasmine is made aware of it…

She won’t be. You’re worrying about nothing. Her father’s voice was growing closer now like he was approaching the stairs, Jas is going to be –

Not wanting to get caught eavesdropping, Jasmine made a show of bounding down the stairs and almost crashing directly into her father.
