    Prologue

    Excerpt from a recently discovered

    Ancient mystic manuscript

What weakness lies within these walls?

    Round heaven's child, a prisoner's stall.

To throw off these chains and be at rest,

To be one with Thee and all the rest.

Neither food nor drink does cheer the day.

But build these walls, which crumble as clay.

Upon my back, with eyes to the sun,

I await Thy will, not mine be done!

Night has come and crickets sing,

But my love for Thee is all I bring, for

Naked I am and naked will I be,

Till Thine outstretched arm encompasses me.

Till Thy will be mine, till with Thee I be.

    Helped me

    small talk

2000 was a monumental year for the world. As it ushered all of us into the next millennium, within me awoke a yearning to reconnect to an inner self that had lain dormant for a while. I searched for a medium to express the manifold thoughts and feelings that were rummaging around inside of me. In the past, I resorted to painting or music to do so. I had experimented with poetry early on in life and occasionally thereafter. For some reason, in February of 2000, my hand went to the pen rather than to brush or instrument. I began writing many of the poems you find in this collection of poetry. These poems reflect portions of my inner me with minimum literary devices, hence I chose a part of the title to be confessions. I have spent much of my life alone, thus the addition of lonely. And last, but not least, I consider myself to be a mystic. Much of
