Preface

In both the Rosicrucians and the Toltec systems there is considerable emphasis on contact with other intelligences and entities. In the Rosicrucians you are taught to contact other people and spiritual beings, while in the Toltec system there are also methods to contact a variety of what would be called spiritual beings. The most important of these for this work are what defined as the inorganic beings. The inorganic beings are probably what are known in mysticism and religion as demons. The term demon needs to be explained to a certain extent. In the Srimad Bhagavatam demons are defined as people who are not devotees, while this is not entirely accurate the concept of people as demons will become clearer in the course of this work. It is not really that people are demons, but rather the association with the non-corporeal inorganic beings that surround us is so ingrained into our species that we are all vulnerable to their influences. The term inorganic beings is taken from Carlos Castaneda and is a more scientific term to use to define the different types of life forces. The ones that we know of are naturally organic, but there are billions of people in the world who believe in non-organic life forms such as angels, spirits and demons. Thus these life forms are inorganic or more precisely non-organic beings. Thus this term would be considered to be more precise, scientific and modern that to classify them in the mythological sense.

As will be detailed I studied the wisdom and techniques of the Toltecs as outlined in the works of Carlos Castaneda. I also studied numerous other philosophies and mystical techniques of both eastern and western disciplines. I studied with the Rosicrucian Order for over thirty years and became Illuminati of the Order. The Rosicrucians are a world wide organization that is comprised of people of all faiths ranging from Christianity and Islam to Hinduism and Buddhism. There are also many members who are not associated with any religion. The methods of the Rosicrucians are such that everything is presented to the aspirant in an experimental manner so that nothing is left to faith, but rather it is through direct experience that the aspirant comes to know the mystical techniques, the spiritual aware nesses and psychic development that the studies afford. The traditional beginnings of the Order are thousands of years old, but the present dissemination has been going on for 95 years. The combination of the Toltec and Rosicrucian teachings combined with a wide range of other studies resulted in a unique discipline that afforded me access to realms beyond the imagination of the average person. To some this might seem like science fiction, but all I can say is that this is exactly what I experienced without embellishment. Every experience is related precisely as I remember it to have happened over four decades of sustained effort.

Introduction

I have been involved with mysticism since I was very young. When I was twelve years old I had a crisis of faith. Before that time I was a devout believer in God. I went to church on Sunday and believed most of what the Bible said. When I was growing up I was also very interested in science. I was especially interested in astronomy, geology, archaeology and studying the unseen world of the small with my microscope. I would go to local ponds and bring home pond water and study the life I found in the pond. I read every astronomy book the library had and as well as everything on the geology of the earth, minerals and was an avid rock collector. I was also very interested in evolution and the ascent of man. I would go to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto and marvel at the dinosaurs and the earlier stages of man, such as Cro-magnon and Neanderthal By the age of twelve, however I began to put all the pieces together and came to the conclusion that both the Biblical and the scientific views of the world could not be correct. The universe was much older than what was told in the Bible and the universe was almost infinite. It seemed my whole world fell apart and I was left standing in a vacuum.

What was truth?

What were the true moral precepts?

What was the correct course of action to take in the world the way it was?

I began to think of other things and there were momentous changes occurring in society at the time and I began to be very curious about other points of view and other ways of looking at the world both spiritually and in what the correct way to carry out your life was.

At age thirteen in 1968 I started to learn transcendental meditation as it was espoused in popular form by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. I developed a mantra which I used for many years afterwards. I immediately found that I was able to enter into an extremely relaxed state where my thoughts were more orderly and tranquil. I soon began to develop an attitude of complete peace and non-violent action and began to tell others about the changes that were happening to me. Before this I was rather aggressive and used to get into fights rather frequently with other boys at school. This experience began my inner journey and lead over time into a miraculous world that very few have ever experienced and even fewer have shared with the general public.

Shortly after I started meditating I became acquainted with Carlos Castaneda. The first book that I read was a Separate Reality. I was completely mesmerized by the accounts of the experiences that Carlos Castaneda went through during his apprenticeship in so-called sorcery with Don Juan. I was also fascinated with the experiences Carlos had with the power plants that Don Juan had him ingest. I began to explore many other plants and their properties to see what kind of similar plants grew in my area of Southern Ontario. I spent hours at the library studying a book called Green Medicine and became familiar with the uses of medicinal and mind alternating plants. We had few in the area that were of importance, other than some questionable ones such as Dulcamara, or Woody nightshade. Woody Nightshade has substances such as solanine in the green berries that were known to cause hallucinations. I was too nervous to use these substances, but was still very curious about how they were used in medicine and by such people as witches in the middle ages. The more commonly known Deadly Nightshade I found out was used by witches to fly. Flying in this sense I felt was entirely hallucinatory, but still I was fascinating as the uses of Datura, a similar plant, in the books of Castaneda. Don Juan had Carlos use Datura on a daily basis for months, which for the average person should drive you into complete insanity, but somehow Carlos survived. In one instance Don Juan had him capture two lizards, one of the lizards he had his eyes sewn shut, while the other had his mouth sewn shut. He would let the one go with a task to do and the other would report back to him what had taken place. Whether there was any reality in this, or not is unsure, but what was important was that the shamen of Mexico believed that it was real.

During this process of learning about plants I became quite an expert in what medicinal plants were available in my region, what they were used for and how to prepare them. I did try many plants, but found that none of them had any real effect upon my consciousness, but did find that the plant Dock was very relaxing when you smoked it. I tried Hashish for the first time also during this period; I was only fourteen years old. I did not know how to smoke it and did not feel any effects. We were told to make a water pipe out of tinfoil and a glass and straw, but I think we lost most of the smoke and it was just a waste or the Hashish was not potent.

This period also began for me a foray into the use of chemical mind altering substances. The first drug I took was MDA. I purchased a capsule of it for $2.00 and went to the Jimi Hendrix concert that was at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. It was very amazing, but I was not sure what was more amazing, the actual chemical experience, or the stunning show that Hendrix put on. This was a pivotal time for Jimi Hendrix. He was arrested at Toronto International airport for possession of Heroin. He claimed that a fan had slipped it into his hand before he went on the plane and had placed it into his carry on luggage without knowing what it was. He eventually got off and served no time for the charge. I took LSD for the first time in 1969, just before it became illegal in Canada. When I first took it while not accepted by the mainstream public it was being used very widely. Much of this usage focused upon the exploration of consciousness and this aspect of it led me into many fascinating experiences. I was very much into the hippie movement of the time and felt that the youth could truly change the world and lead civilization in a new direction. Of course this was fiercely fought by what we termed the establishment and the military industrial complex. I was also very influenced by Timothy Leary and his preaching of turn on, tune in and drop out.

The world was turmoil and we all thought that nuclear was imminent. The air was badly polluted and the water was unfit for life. The Great Lakes were dying and the rivers and streams had lost all their fish. As a generation we were all living in a state of despair about the future and wanting to change it at all costs. The cultural effect that LSD was having upon society reached into every facet of society. The Beatles were obviously using LSD as songs such as Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Strawberry Fields and All You Need is Love clearly illustrated. The Rolling Stones were obviously partaking too as illustrated by such songs as Ruby Tuesday, In Another Land and 10,000 Light Years From Home. Of course Jimi Hendrix was the guru of psychedelia and I was a very big fan. I was also learning electric guitar and Hendrix was the greatest guitarist in the world at the time and was profoundly influencing popular music. I took it all in, hook, line and sinker. Whether this was good, or bad I was by no means alone. A large minority of the youth that I knew had used LSD and its influences were having profound effects upon society changing it radical new ways. For myself my young mind interpreted as trying to live the ideal of All You Need is Love, spreading peace and dropping out of society. Of course I was too young to really partake in all the aspects of this philosophy, but I did my best to live up to these ideals. The young people where I lived in Toronto formed a large loose group of up to a hundred people and we would often meet in parks and open spaces to commune and partake in drugs. Hashish was quite inexpensive and LSD was only $1.00 per hit, so there was an abundance of substances to use at little expense.

During this period my main focus for the most part was to expand my consciousness to embrace the realms described by Carlos Castaneda. I practiced as many techniques that were described in the early books as possible and was making some headway in this regard. Mostly this involved being more open to the possibility of a reality that was beyond normal perception. I must admit during this period I used drugs too much drugs and I was having problems with my mental stability. I did have some fascinating experiences and there were several unexplained things. Often there would be shared hallucinations between people and it mystified us how we would all be able to see the same thing if it was not real in some sense. Shared reality is also a salient feature of the reality of Don Juan. He called it agreed upon reality. He said that the way that we perceive the world is greatly influenced by how we all agree it is. That there is a shared consensus that actually makes reality appear the way that it does to us. We agree upon the way that a chair looks and what characteristics it has and it becomes that way to our senses. He also said that there were no hallucinations. He said that his was due to the fact that the universe is mad up of an infinite number of layers he called onion skins and that sometimes they would bleed through and be visible to an observer. He said this is what happened with hallucinogens. One of the tricks we would do with LSD was to make a snapping motion with our thumbs and fingers and we would be able to see a spinning multi-coloured crystal between our fingers. We tried this with many people and everybody saw the same thing. Soon, due to the pressure that was placed on the producers of LSD there was no more acid and the whole movement began to fall apart. In Toronto there was a place called Rochdale College, which was a branch of the University of Toronto. It was a free college in a large apartment building and was dominated by hippies. Gradually during the early seventies the whole scene changed and some bikers invaded the building and then there was a murder and the college was shut down and turned into a home for seniors.

By the time I was eighteen I had quit drugs and was going to college myself. I was practicing meditation on a daily basis and was also practicing the Toltec techniques described by Castaneda on a daily basis. This included such techniques as not-doing, attempting to stop the internal dialogue and dreaming. Dreaming was very challenging. Don Juan had instructed Carlos to look for his hands in his dreams. I was never successful at that, but using a combination of meditation and stopping the internal dialogue I began to have vivid visions during meditation at times. I had used meditation to help me quit drugs as I had many strange states of consciousness as a result of not using them. I found that this was leading me into a deeper world of understanding the mind and the self and began to truly analyze what I was experiencing when I was meditating. I was able to be in touch with my mind and body in ways that I did not fully understand. My consciousness did indeed expand as a result of meditation. I was especially aware of a point near the center of my forehead that I later learned was the pineal gland. The pineal gland is considered by many mystics to be the point of psychic awareness and can be enhanced through meditation to become more active and to enable the ability to contact higher levels of awareness. I also started to notice deeper levels of consciousness where it seemed that there were parts of my inner self that were somehow fragmented from the rest of my awareness.

All during this period I would have visions of past lives. It had visions and intuitions that I had been born in Mexico at least once. It also seemed that I had been born in Central Europe in the late 1500's and was a mathematician and astronomer/astrologer. I had become very successful at my profession during this incarnation, but was always plagued with money and health problems. I had lost my first wife, while I was quite young due to disease and married an older woman with money. I had felt that I was never the same after that and my life was clouded with melancholy and trouble. I felt, however that this life had built upon my previous lives in Mexico where I had been involved with mathematics and astronomy there as well. During the middle ages the Mayans were the most advanced mathematicians and astronomers in the world. It is known now that the Mayans developed the concept of zero, scientific notation and determined the length of the solar year to such accuracy that it was not improved upon until the twentieth century. I became involved in astronomy in my present life at a very young age and felt that this was a continuation of the interests that had developed over many lives. By the time I was twelve I had my first telescope and observed the heavens for many years. When I was eighteen I build a ten inch reflector which I used for the next fifteen years. I wanted to study astronomy at university, but co-opted for engineering which I have always regretted.

When I was eighteen I was given a book for my birthday by a friend on astrology. This friend was unaware of the difference between the two. I explained to my bemused friend that astrology was just a bunch of nonsense and that it had no basis in reality. To prove this to myself, however I cast my own horoscope and was rather astonished at the accuracy of the information it provided as far as personality analysis was concerned. This began for me a thirty year quest to truly determine the validity of astrology and I became a renowned expert in the subject. Over the years I published many articles on the subject outlining the scientific basis for astrology as demonstrated through the application of celestial harmonics and through the correlation between planetary geometrical arrangements and terrestrial earthquakes.

My interests in astronomy also lead to an interest in cosmology and the various theories of the nature of the universe. One of the current theories is of the multiverse. In the multiverse theory there are many parallel universes. This is much in accord with what has been determined through my own subsequent experiences and the description of the universe as presented by Don Juan in Carlos Castaneda's works. Don Juan stated that there are an infinite number of universes separated by thin layers piled on to of one another like onion skins on an onion. Some of the experiences that I have had directly confirm the existence of a multiverse and not only do these alternate universes exist, but they can be accessed through the techniques described in this book. The concept of multiple universes is mentioned many times in Hindu Puranic literature, such as in the Bhagavata Purana: Because You are unlimited, neither the lords of heaven nor even You Yourself can ever reach the end of Your glories. The countless universes, each enveloped in its shell, are compelled by the wheel of time to wander within You, like particles of dust blowing about in the sky. The Mrutis, following their method of eliminating everything separate from the Supreme, become successful by revealing You as their final conclusion (Bhagavata Purana 10.87.41.) The Islamic Scholar Fakhr al-Din al-Razi (1149-1209), in dealing with his conception of physics and the physical world in his Matalib, explores the notion of the existence of a multiverse in the context of his commentary on the Koranic verse All praise belongs to God, Lord of the Worlds. He raises the question of whether the term worlds in this verse refers to multiple worlds within this single universe or cosmos, or to many other universes or a multiverse beyond this known universe. Another Islamic scholar Al-Razi disagreed with the Aristotelian and Avicennian view of the impossibility of multiple universes. This disagreement arose from his affirmation of atomism, as advocated by the Ash'ari school of Islamic theology, which entails the existence of vacant space in which the atoms move, combine and separate. He argues that God has
