About this ebook
Issue #02 of Australia and NZ's newest SF/Horror fiction magazine is here. Featuring brand new short stories by Jessica Nelson-Tyers, Alfie Simpson, Jesse Hayward, Lucy-Jane Walsh and Carlington Black, with cover art by Oliver Hayes.
Our second issue takes you to the deepest parts of Earth's oceans and out again to the Edge of the universe, with a stop on the way for Jesse Hayward's three-year mission to Europa. In "The Free Range Option", Jessica Nelson-Tyers goes grocery shopping in a world of fantastical creatures, while Lucy-Jane Walsh paints the world in "Blue". And for the second time, Oliver Hayes kicks in our eyeholes with his cover art.

I looked at the waybread nutrition info and saw dryad oil listed as the second ingredient. I was willing to bet it was really Ent oil from one of those horrible plantations. Our labelling laws are far too lax. They should have to spell it out: Ent plantations destroy priceless orc habitat. It’s as though they don’t even care about endangered species. After scanning the other packages, I threw my original choice into the trolley. They were all the same anyway.
I moved to the vegetation section. There was a footprint in a pool of red juice where someone had gone for a skid, and this was the strange part – the tread of a shoe was delineated in it. Who wore shoes?
The screaming of a mandrake distracted me. It’s weird the way they start squawking of a sudden as soon as they defrost. They were all identical – 3 kilos each and perfectly rounded with proportional limbs. I don’t know what’s done with the malformed specimens. Perhaps I should start a petition. One shudders to think of the waste. They were on a good special so I grabbed one, thinking of a hearty winter stew.
I broke the necks of three triffids or so and inspected a cage of assassin vine. I
