method.
keeping it square
So many design possibilities exist for using just the little 5˝ × 5˝ square. In this section the focus is on keeping it simple. Some of the projects use the 5˝ × 5˝ square as is, but you’ll also see how simple subcutting, fabric choice, and block setting can completely elevate the 5˝ × 5˝ square into something extraordinary, as in Chandelier and Lickety-Split.
USING CHARM SQUARES
Keep the 5˝ × 5˝ square as is, sewing together the whole squares.
Subcut the 5˝ × 5˝ square into 4 squares 2½˝ × 2½˝. Combine with a 5˝ × 5˝ square to get new block designs.

for Art Gallery Fabrics
One of the things I love about simple quilts is the opportunity to let beautiful fabric do all the talking. Of course, it doesn’t get any simpler than a basic block quilt—and this one uses graphic prints and solids from April Rhodes’s Arizona collection to make a bold statement. Add to that some stunning custom quilting and you have a masterpiece.
