John Nichols
John Nichols (1940–2023) was the acclaimed author of the New Mexico trilogy. Beginning with the publication of The Milagro Beanfield War, which was adapted into a film by Robert Redford, the series of novels grew from regional stature to national appeal, from literary radicals to cult classics. Beloved for his compassionate, richly comic vision and admired for his insight into the cancer that accompanies unbridled progress, Nichols was also the author of a dozen novels and several works of nonfiction. He lived in northern New Mexico.

Introduction
Are you curious about the topic of God’s will? I am too, and I undertook an investigation to uncover the facts.
These notes are organized in a question format to remind me of the lessons I gleaned from the study and to make the material easier for the reader to digest. Some of the examples are diary-like as I reviewed events from my past and shared the experiences in a conversational format.
I realize that Evangelicals do not view the topic of God’s will harmoniously and recommend that you read this work with the awareness that others conducting the same research might arrive at different conclusions. This paper reflects what I learned. For maximum benefit you should embark on your own study and form your own conclusions.
If the content helps you, why not send an email to let me know? And feel free to pass this work on to family, small group community, or church to help others who may be encouraged.
