Build a Survival Safe Home - Leo Sims

    Introduction

Survival skills are important. Despite the increasing dependency on technological advances and other things that we can live without that makes life easier, we simply must know how to live off of the land. The reason why we might have to do so really end up being irrelevant since all the theories that drive people to learn how to survive put us in the same place: surviving in the wilderness. Even if it isn’t living in a forest, you still have to know how to provide shelter for yourself and your family. You have to know how you will provide shelter and how you will get water. Water isn’t as easy as it sounds, either. You’ll also have to know how to feed your family...and what not to use as food.

That’s where this ebook comes in. In this ebook, you will learn 30 invaluable lessons about how you can survive. This ebook focuses primarily on building a survival safe home. One thing you will notice about this ebook is that we tell you how to make the most of your physical safety and your survival. You’re not just going to learn how to build a home in the wild. You’ll also learn how to protect that home and provide for your family.

It’s important that you practice these skills before you need them. After all, when the end of the world as we know it begins, we won’t necessarily have access to the Internet or electricity that will power our ebook readers. So, you need to have a good handle on these skills far in advance of anything happening. Take what you learn here and go out camping on a regular basis. This will help keep your skills sharp and help you master any of the things that you struggle with doing. Don’t rely on just knowing what to do when disaster strikes. Your ultimate safety depends on your preparation.

It’s also important that you complete your own research on different survival safe homes that are best for you, your family, your circumstances, and your area. You should also take the time to do research on the plants that are in your area. Also, know how to build and execute several types of traps in order to feed yourself and your family.

With that said, it’s time to get started.

Lesson 1 – Choosing or Building a Tiny Home

The tiny house movement has exploded over the last few years. Many people choose to live in one in order to minimize their personal strain on the Earth. Others buy the type of tiny homes that are mobile. It helps them travel and be comfortable on the road.

Tiny homes also make a great bug out location. They are budget friendly when compared to other options such as installing concrete safe rooms or underground bunkers. They are ideal for people who choose or must live off of the grid. One of the great things about tiny homes is that you can build them out of a variety of things.

You can get a small school bus or even a large school bus and turn it into a tiny home. Many people are able to convert a full size school bus for around $5,000. That might seem expensive if you haven’t saved any money, but you must realize that you are saving for your future safety. You can get a used bus, depending on size, for around $3,000. The money that you put in to converting it into something that you can live in doesn’t have to be extravagant. Remember, it just needs to be livable. You don’t have to turn it into a Hilton suite; if you have the time and money to give it luxuries, then that’s also fantastic. If you want to add solar panels, then the price certainly goes up. The benefit of solar panels means that you have a way to heat water and have electricity. A little modern convenience can seem absolutely luxurious in a survival situation. You don’t have to use a bus. You can use an old van. You can also choose to purchase a pre-made tiny house.

Another benefit to any tiny house scenario, whether you purchase one pre-made or build one for yourself, is to add a composting toilet. A composting toilet is a dry toilet. That means that there is no water inside of it like you see with a regular toilet. It uses the natural decomposition process to recycle the urine and feces. It works very similar to the idea of compost for a garden. Oh, and composting toilets will not stink up your tiny house.

You could make the decision to build your own tiny house. Just make sure that you plan it out in advance. It’s also important to remember that when SHTF that you won’t necessarily always have the gas for a vehicle that can move your tiny home. So, you might want to think about purchasing land in advance that you can place your tiny home on. You could jump start the process by visiting home improvement stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s. They carry outdoor buildings. There are many that would make an excellent shell for your tiny house. The shells can be relatively inexpensive particularly if you can find a particular model on clearance. Then, it’s just up to you to add the inside touches.

One of the benefits of choosing the tiny house route is that you get some of the comforts of life before the SHTF. You can have a bed. You can have a place to sit. You can have a barrier from the wind. You can choose to add solar panels or harness the wind to help you have electricity. There are a lot of great things that you can do with a tiny house.

If you’d like to save money on building your own tiny house or remodeling something to become your tiny house, look into using recycled materials. What is currently available to you that you could use and that you wouldn’t have to pay to use? Check out websites like Freecycle to find people getting rid of paint, doors, or other things that you can use.
