      It’s My Party Too is Whitman’s mobilizing call for Republican moderates to exert their power and take back the party. It’s a critical analysis of how social fundamentalists have taken over the party, how this takeover’s short-term gains are not what they seem and how the long-term costs could damage the party for years to come. Whitman believes centrists need to become radicals and activists before social fundamentalists destroy the relevancy of the party to the majority of Americans.

      The book is written as a historical study of the Republican Party as well as a political career biography. Whitman travels through the stages of the party and how its leadership decisions have affected its appeal to minorities, women and young people. She also traces how her family history and experience led her into a life of public service and working for the environment.
