    Chapter 1: The Meditation Basics

    Since the beginning of traditional Buddhism, different ways of meditation have been developed. The Buddhist tradition refers to them as ‘training of the mind’ but each has a different approach. The single principle that connects all of them is that, meditation is the cradle of positive and calm state of the mind.

    Learning meditation

    There are 2 types of meditation that were taught by the Buddha:

    The Metta

    Mindfulness of breathing

    Bhavana

    Loving and kindness

    You can simply read about the mediation techniques. Reading them is just the same as getting them from teachers since they are so simple. The only difference is that a teacher can inspire you and give you encouragement in their perspective.

    Preparation

    You need to sit upright when preparing for meditation. Your posture should also be comfortable and relaxed. So you may need to sit with your legs crossed and on a soft surface. If this posture does not make you feel relaxed,
