About this ebook

By the Author of the Bestselling book: Low Body Temperatures but Not Hypothyroid: How I Banished my Health Gremlins & Lost Weight through Thermogenic Foods & Burst Training.

Having suffered regular and chronic migraines for most of my adult life, I came to believe that this debilitating condition forms part of something much bigger, making its definition ‘a bad headache’ grossly inaccurate.
After suffering a recent health crisis, where various ‘gremlins’ began to sap the quality from my life, I decided to conduct dietary trials which inspired me to write my first book, Low Body Temperatures but Not Hypothyroid... One of the aims of my research was migraine elimination.
Supported by fastidious records which have been posted on my CutTheJunk blog, as well as scholarly articles and respected websites, I discovered a way of reducing the incidence and intensity of my migraines to a point where they now seldom occur. I believe most migraineurs can also do the same.
In logical vein, this book begins with the basics about migraines, progressing to an in-depth look at about how abnormal hormonal function can trigger migraine attacks and what can be done to put this right.
Find also a guide to the traditional treatment for migraines, a crash course on the endocrine system and an anti-migraine diet summary.

With illustrations, photos and a few surprises along the way.

Chapter 1: Anguish of the Typical Migraineur

MIGRAINE FORMS ONE OF THE MOST horrible aspects to my health gremlins, which inspired me to conduct dietary trials, keep a blog and write my first book. This, my second book, concentrates solely upon the matter of this debilitating condition.

When researching into the possible causes of my migraines, I came to believe it involved the entire body, not just the head. With this approach, I discovered a way of reducing the incidence and intensity of my migraines over several months without the use of drugs.

In logical vein, this book begins at the beginning with my migraine story and the basics about migraines.

The remainder of this book looks at the bigger picture, viewing the migraine only as the end product to a long process. Only after making drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle was I able to stall my migraines for good.

The aim of this book is to share with you what I have learned so that other sufferers can do the same.

    So, from the beginning...

I suffered my first migraine in my early twenties when a few hours of nausea and dizziness hampered my work day. Having never suffered a migraine before, I didn’t understand what the sensation was. The attacks soon closed in on my life, visiting every month for years on end, and at one point, twice every month.

A dry throat, fatigue, dizziness and occasional aura would lead to the sensation my right eyeball was being impaled by a bolt. Nausea, a ghastly pallor, fever and dizziness would often accompany. The migraine attack would drag on for 3 days, worsening at night.

After a while, I noticed my migraines followed 2 patterns:

They might occur regularly at a particular time of the month, often before a period and sometimes during ovulation; the so-called ‘menstrual migraine’.

Or they might occur at weekends after a hectic week or at the start of holidays; the so-called ‘Saturday migraine’ or ‘holiday migraine’. This ‘stress-removal’ type of migraine, I have learned, is caused by frazzled adrenal glands, and so I have termed it the ‘adrenal migraine’. The mechanics of the adrenal migraine will be explained later in this book.

Since migraines had become a regular occurrence in my life, I have learned that they fall into two
