    Introduction

When you start to build your house you have a dream and many expectation and hopeful; what is the house shape and how it will be comfortable to your life.

In real life this is not an easy project but it needs to have some special information clearly but not in deep to manage this project or manage your dream.

    Who do what?

It is the first question that should be known by you clearly to define what is in their mind for these people that you will are working with.

You should know that all look at you that you are just a bag containing money and their target how to open this bag quickly and large opening.

Architectural engineer is responsible for the layout of the house and he will provide you the distribution of the room , reception. The structural or civil engineer are the same and have the same knowledge but in the market structural engineer who perform the structure analysis for steel, concrete and wood structure but the civil engineer responsible for landscape, road, tunnel and so on. The structural engineer is responsible to design for you the foundation and the building by another word he will define the thickness of your slab and how many steel bars on it. In case of the steel or wood structure he will define the dimensions of the wood or steel beam, column and design the foundation. Geotechnical engineer he has the knowledge of civil and structural engineer also but he is focus on the soil only so he will take the soil sample and define the capacity of the soil to carry the building load. Then the contractor who is responsible to follow the engineering drawings and specs to build your house. In most cases the electrical and plumbing activity is done by the office team may in some cases have a part time electrical engineer.

    How can I start?

The very important thing is to define first what you need know and in future, so it is very important to ask yourself how many room you need how many toilet you need what about the kitchen are you have a special request. It is very important to define how many floor you will need now and for future it is very critical question. Please take your time to ask these questions and have a definite answer. Japanese said thinking slowly and executing fast.

As when you sit with the engineer and define your requirement should be clear and be sure he understands what you need. Any change after that it will cost you a money but if during the construction the foundation any change can cost you a very lot of money be sure it will be out of your budget.

The second step you should select the engineering office carefully based on his reputation not that he has a beautiful secretary or a beautiful office. As k and ask many time about his experience and the work he did before.

    Types of the buildings

There are mainly two types of building the first and old methodology which is the load bearing wall so there will be a wall of masonry and the roof from concrete may be from steel or wood so the wall is very important element as it transfer the roof load to the foundation. This type of building is cheap and fast but it can be used for one and two floors and maximum 4 floors building. If you have this system the main problem that the opening for the door and windows is very small in the minimum and you cannot distribute the rooms again or change the location of any wall.

The other type which is called the skeleton in this case it will transfer the floors load to the columns which will be from concrete or steel or composite section between concrete and steel for high rise building. In this type of structure you can remove any wall as in this case will be non-load bearing element.

    Book guide

Every chapter of this book discusses the main item of your building. The engineer mean the engineering office or the consultant engineer who responsible to supervise the work during construction. Every item describes the right way to receive from the contractor and the quality control and assurance related to this item. What about the tolerance and deviation that can be acceptable.

    EARTHWORKS

Excavating, transporting, placing, spreading, moisture-conditioning and compaction of all types of earth or rock materials will be discussed in this chapter..

Submit Method Statement, with the following documents to the Engineer for information and approval. 1-To be Excavation Plan including setting out and marking of existing utilities.2-Filling Plan3-Control of Water Plan 4-Equipment to be used. 5-Supervision and Control procedures 6.Quality Control Programmed.7.Weekly and Monthly Quality Control

    A. Submit for the Engineer’s approval the proposed programmed for inspection and testing by an approved Independent Testing Laboratory, so as to achieve the specified quality. Inspection by an approved Independent Testing Laboratory shall be in addition to, not instead of inspection by the Engineer.

B.Maintain a qualified representative on-site during all earthwork operations.

C.Weekly Quality Control Report: Present the Engineer with a Quality Control Report at weekly intervals summarizing the following:

    1.Daily Inspection Reports.

    2.Material Delivery Records.

3.Test Results (from previous weeks samples).

4.Samples taken this week and amount of work represented by each individual sample.

    5.Quality Control Performance.

Monthly Quality Control Report: Present the Engineer with a Quality Control Report at monthly intervals summarizing the following:

    1.Weekly Quality Control Reports.

    2.Proposed Quality Control Programmed improvements.

    3.Revisions to frequency of testing.

4.Work for which acceptance is requested.

The monthly Quality Control Report shall be approved by the Engineer before being admissible as a contract record.

    MATERIALS

Satisfactory soil materials for backfilling and fill are defined as those belonging to soil classification group A1-a and A1-b in accordance with ASTM D 3282 or AASHTO M145- 87 and the maximum particle size shall be 80 mm. B.Obtain suitable fill material either from processed, waste products of rock crushing and screening plants, or borrowed (excavated or dredged) from approved natural soil deposits.

Unsuitable fill material shall include but not be limited to the following:

1.Material not meeting the requirements specified in paragraphs 2.01 A and 2.01B.

    2.Perishable and organic materials.

3.Materials containing scrap, debris and garbage.

Fill material shall be from one or more of the sources listed below:

1.Suitable material from required excavations within the site of the work covered under this Contract. This shall be the primary source of fill material.

2.Borrow areas designated by the Engineer.

3.Borrow areas provided by the Contractor and approved by the Engineer.

4.Commercial sources approved by the Engineer.

Designation or approval of a borrow area does not mean that all material within that area is suitable fill material. Only suitable soils from such areas shall be placed in the Works and any unsuitable materials in lenses, layers or other types of inclusions in these areas shall be carefully removed and discarded. Ensure that materials obtained from borrow areas comply with the requirements of the specification.

Supply all water required for construction including dust control, moisture-conditioning of fill material during compaction and any other of his needs.

    EXECUTIONS

Before the surface of any part of the work site is disturbed or the works thereon are commenced observe and record levels and locations of such points over it as are agreed with the Engineer. Excavation or filling shall not commence until prior approval of the Engineer has been obtained.

Keep all work well drained at all times and ensure that all work is carried out in the dry in accordance with the Method Statement for the control of water as prepared and recommended by the Contractor and approved by the Engineer.

Construct, operate and maintain all temporary dams, watercourses and other works of all kinds including pumping sets, well point installations and relief well systems that may be necessary to exclude water from the work place or ensure stability of excavations while construction is in progress. Such temporary works and plant shall include spare units kept ready for immediate use in case of breakdowns, and shall not be removed without the approval of the Engineer. Design pumping units for drainage sumps, well-point installations and relief well systems specifically for the type of service required.

Whenever, in the opinion of the Engineer the methods to control water
