Introduction to 'The View from my Heart with Yoga
Winn Kelly Charles is an accomplished woman who refers to herself as a disabled woman living in a non-disabled world. In her book, 'The View from my Heart with Yoga', she draws on her own life experience living with physical challenges and her brilliant talent of jewelry design. Her main character, Kelly, has a passion for bringing jewelry, fashion, and make up that is easy to use to those with physical challenges. Inner and outer beauty are equally valued. Kelly freely admonishes that 'We can't be beautiful on the outside if we aren't beautiful on the inside'.This belief is echoed in the tagline for her friend's organic make up line, 'Your outer beauty sparkles within you'.
Kelly and her friends are passionate about bringing the disabled the best options for living an independent, whole, and beautiful life. Kelly has a line of designer jewelry that the disabled can easily put on and take off. Her fashion designer friend, JT, who was partially paralyzed in a car accident now offers stylish clothing that is easy for those with limited mobility to wear. Cynthia, JT's sister, introduces an organic make up line that is safe for everyone, including the disabled and kid's who love to play dress up.
Kelly wields her indomitable will power to succeed. She champions her family and friends and shares the accessibility of their combined offerings to the world. Kelly boldly claimes, "No matter how long it takes, or how difficult it is to succeed at something, I will get it"! Kelly is as tough as the diamonds she uses in her jewelry designs and has a heart of gold. She is determined to 'wash the mud of the challenges of disability off' and see 'their gifts sparkle'.
There is a Japanese saying of wabi-sabi. Wabi-sabi is the idea of beauty and perfection seen as even more beautiful and more perfect when the element of imperfection exists. This same way of seeing can be applied to those with physical challenges and the wabi-wabiness of the beauty they have to offer the world.

Chapter 1
The silence of the Yoga and the Noise of a Jackhammer
As I did a yoga pose I felt a sense of peace come over me, a peace that I had never felt before. I guess that it was the peace of knowing that JT was going to be okay after many years of suffering. We began worrying about him starting out with Miami fashion week and all that drama from Tom, who turned out to be a rotten apple and who didn't respect people with disabilities at all. He allowed us to give him what he wanted because we all thought respected people with disabilities. He showed us time and again that he really didn’t respect disabled people at all.
I would get the message to JT later today and am a little nervous, but he must know that Tom is no good for him and if Tom is no good for JT, then he surely is no good for our team.
Cynthia was still working on launching a makeup company and unfortunately we've had a tragic loss since last time we spoke. We lost Diane to a stroke. What’s worse is that she went to the doctor and got a diagnosis of unquestionable? The doctors didn’t diagnose it as a brain aneurysm. Plus, she had to pay the ultimate price with her life. She also was dealing with a sense of loss in her balance from the stroke which she had. I know she must have been already dealing with symptoms of stroke when JT had his accident.
Unfortunately, because her body got weak due to the stroke ahead of the brain aneurysm she couldn't fight it because she wasn't strong enough to fight it to begin with Brain aneurysms take a toll on a healthy body. Just imagine what they do to a disabled body. We were all saddened at the loss but know she is now an ANGEL CEO watching over us and helping us make sure we are still holding our company strong enough to make decisions for our future.
We have decided to vision board for now in order to create a clear picture of what we have to do to build up the great work we all started back in the days of Event Management
at Miami Fashion Week MFW
.
Starting from a great foundation sometimes results in break down and must be restarted to regain focus. We all had a new way of thinking about JT’s health and this would help us regain our vision. Our companies will succeed easier as we incorporate a new way of life into our new business vision. We want to change the way people think of the typical fashion show and do it in a way which highlights the personalities. Our company wants to reach the need of people who will be proud to say they are now owning a peace of mind. JT gives everyone peace of mind, especially people with CP who don’t like asking for help with things such as dressing.
Since the spinal injury JT has really been working hard to help disabled people see a new version of themselves with a line of clothing they can actually wear and feel good about. What JT does is makes you feel confident. When you slip on a piece of clothing from the beginning of putting in your legs into a pair of pants, or your arms into a shirt in any style you can dream of it really is inspirational. These clothes are made to fit your own life and disability.
I give my heart and soul to take my clients to the point of having the peace of mind that can get up and get through getting themselves dressed up for anything on their own, while not having to ask for more help from aides. When they can dress themselves cute and maybe add a cute piece of jewelry they know they have a huge dose of love. I want people who wear my designs to feel loved
said JT. JT Said this to a New York reporter on the phone.
Across the street from our office, construction was going on. I had no idea what was going on over their but I
