About this ebook
Juste Fontaine was once a gym sweeper in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Around 1943 former welterweight champion Fritzie Zivic took him under his wing and taught him to box in a Pittsburgh gym. Fontaine was a hard puncher who fought his way to a sixth place ranking among world lightweights. Juste ran into a formidable opponent, lightweight champion, Ike Williams, who battered him into submission in May 1947. From this point on Fontaine's career dipped and he was never considered the bright prospect he had been when won his first six fights, four of them by knockout.

Juste Fontaine was a lightweight boxer of French descent from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was trained to fight by ex-welterweight champion Fritzie Zivic, who tutored the 18-year-old in his own gym in Pittsburgh. Juste Fontaine had worked as a refrigeration man in Milwaukee before turning to boxing.
Fontaine left high school in his junior year after the death of his father. Boxing as an amateur for four years he became Milwaukee's flyweight and bantam champion. Fritzi Zivic called Juste a helluva puncher. I became his manager after I boxed with him in the gym one day and he hit me on the chin harder than anybody ever hit me before.
