About this ebook

Steve's assignment to Iraq, instead of the Flight Academy, is boredom-ville. That is until his Radar Technician turns him on to a totally strange hobby to replace the day to day humdrum of being stuck in the dust bowl capital of Iraq. Residing in Germany since 1984 and linguistically integrated into the new society, fluent conversation dwindled as friends returned to the U.S.A. Since a few years, I’ve discovered new medication for my affliction, (see my Autobiography: “Gallant I stand with My Shaking Hands"), so now I’m able to type again. I found enjoyment in writing stories, ergo; I started my new hobby, with eclectic themes spanning the entire spectrum. Sometimes I will know the word in German, forgotten the English word, and need Bing Translator, but with each new story my vocabulary is getting back up to par. So, in the hope that you all enjoy what I write, I’ll continue as long as possible. And if you like my writing, especially if you paid for one of my stories, I would appreciate it if you'd post a review at Smashwords, and/or the retailer. And don't forget to share my link on Facebook, Linked In, Google+, Redit, Pinterest, or any of the many other social media sites.Near the bottom of each books page is “Also by This Author”, but unfortunately it list only the latest Ten E-Books. A complete list is at the bottom of my interview page: simply click on the interview hyperlink below.p.s. And don’t forget: "If you don't know what a word means, don't ignore the chance to look it up!”Greetings from Stuttgart Germany!David

    Chapter One

As a single child growing up all over the countryside, constantly on the move, I had learned early on to look out for myself and stand tall for what I believed in. It was a constant carousel of new towns, new schools and naturally, no new friends. Always being the new kid on the block and as I grew, learning to hold my own in a good fight with the school bullies. The teachers made it even harder for me to be accepted from the start, due to my fantastic Grades that I carried from one school to the next. We should welcome Steven to our humble classroom! He is even a straight A student! Maybe the rest of you could use him as an example and maybe try just a little bit harder? Thanks a lot teacher! But always thought; Stand for what you are and what you want to be. And so it was when I decided to join the Air Force My father went nuclear! Sorry Dad! I told him. But this is my life, not yours! He carried on about; Only birds and idiots are meant to fly! Are you chirping in a tree, or did you all of a sudden become the town idiot? To no avail though, for I had resolved myself to going all the way, and that I too, would pilot a fighter jet some day. My Uncle perished in a test flight. As to the
