AUTHOR BIO 193

INTRODUCTION

I have been a professional hairstylist for fifteen years, including six years as the educational director at a popular salon franchise. In that time, my work has been seen on TV and on the runway. I launched the blog Confessions of a Hairstylist because I loved seeing how good hair can inspire confidence in and empower women. Through my simple step-by-step tutorials, I have put an end to all bad hair days.

This book teaches you how to make the best of your hair. Over the years I have cut, styled, and colored every kind of hair, from fine, flat, and oily hair to wavy, curly, frizzy, and thick hair. Now I want to share my expertise and show you how to care for your own individual hair type and choose the right tools and products to make it look fantastic.

Section 1 offers one hundred different styles for you to create. I have tailored each look for specific hair types and textures. Discover new party looks, unique updos, brilliant braids, chic office styles, weekend top-knots, and many more. My goal is to help you make every day a perfect hair day.

Chapter 1 caters for casual days. It’s full of great ideas for braids and stylish ways to wear your hair down when you want to keep it simple. Chapter 2 includes a range of buns, braids, and other ways to keep your hair tidy but stylish while you’re on the go at work or running errands. Chapter 3 is for sporty days and events when you need your hair out of your face so you can be active but still want to look pulled together. Chapter 4 is designed for dress-up days when your hairstyle needs to impress as much as your outfit and includes modern versions of vintage styles and some fabulous updos. In Chapter 5 I go all out with styles for special days when you are heading to a formal function or want to make a statement—including unusual braids and upstyles with stunning shapes.

Each tutorial explains which hair type it’s best for, how the style can help overcome hair problems, and how to prepare your hair to achieve the look. Illustrated step-by-step instructions show you how to create the style and photos demonstrate the finished result. You can do all the looks yourself but I’ve noted using a symbol with two faces where it may be helpful to have a partner. Want to try a specific look in the book but don’t think you have the right hair type? The tutorials have insider information on how you can fake it! Turn fine hair into a thick braid, or tame flyaway frizzy hair to produce a sleek, lustrous look.

Section 2, the Hair Spa, reveals the best hair care routines for every hair type, from washing, conditioning, and styling to problem solving and getting healthier hair. It’s packed with information on selecting the top tools and products to make your hair look its very best.

So are you ready to get perfect hair? I’ve shared all my trade secrets in this book. Now you too can achieve salon-worthy hair in the comfort of your own home.

Let’s get started!

This hairstyle is a variation on a low ponytail—the hair is looped into the hair elastic instead of being pulled all the way out. It is perfect for girls who have fine hair since when you pull back the hair, it actually makes the hair appear thicker. The low looped pony also works well with

This is a very detailed book about hairstyling and has great detail. Mostly it's fun just to flip though and see the many illustrations and photos. There are so many different styles in this book.I also like the tips about hair care. When I requested this book I had longer hair but have since cut it too short for many of the styles shown. That doesn't matter as there are useful tips about hair care through out. It will be a fun book for my granddaughter as she will love trying the many styles.

Overall, I think this book is a good, step by step guide for creating hair styles that you might see in the magazines or on celebrities. I like how it is divided according to the style you are looking for: casual, out and about, sporty, dress up, and extra special. It is also great that each style gives you not only step by step directions, but also tells you which hair types are best for each style. You can also look for styles that are just best for your hair type. The steps are also given in both picture and word form, which is great. Some could use a few more steps, though.

I have never been good at doing my own hair... I can pretty much only do a basic braid and leave it at that. This book provides clear and easy instructions for a lot of different dos! I am still a little clumsy to get all the braids in there, but the photos are great ideas for my wedding hair style!

I received a free copy of this in exchange for my honest review, and honestly, I am disappointed. The author and I apparently have completely different definitions of "perfect". Every style looked messy to me, with flyaways and other hairs sticking out even in the photos. They look much more like average hair days than perfect.

The book is good quality and has great photos and illustrations, but I wish there were a few more. Each hairstyle only has a finished photo from 1 angle, so you don't get to see the whole thing. The section on care seems like it is written for newbies, but if so, it should go into greater detail and give examples.

A great book to have for the woman looking to have a variety of hairstyles at her disposal. Comes with photos, hand illustrated step by step photos along with well written instructions of achieving the hairstyle. It does lack a section for shorter haired woman so would recommend for women with medium to long hair lengths. Also contains a section of hair problem resolutions and other information.

The book is so pretty and it's really simple to follow. I can't wait to try out all of these cute, easy to do hairstyles that are going to be perfect for any occasion.

My 13-year-old daughter is quite the amateur hairstylist lately, and we were both excited to receive this book! We have been trying the hairstyles out for the past few days. I liked it that the book was separated by category, and very clearly laid out in a way that makes it easy to find what you're looking for. We both like that the styles it mentions are easy to accomplish, with very clear step-by-step instructions. I appreciate that the book both mentions which styles work best with which types of hair, and how each can be adapted if your type of hair is one that is normally not as well suited. My daughter, a huge YouTube hair how-to aficionado, says that she knew how to do a lot of these styles already, but I didn't. And I really don't think that I'd understand half as well seeing them on YouTube, particularly things like knowing which materials to have on hand. But for what it's worth, Bella is ready to see 1,000 Perfect Hair Days, so whenever the author is up for it, she's ready for a sequel! I feel like we'll be using this book a lot!

I have never, ever been any good at doing my own hair. But things are changing. 100 Perfect Hair Days is such a great resource for me (and all the other ladies who struggle to do hair). I love the step by step illustrations and the simple instructions. I also like that with most of the styles, they show alternatives and give many, many tips. I'll definitely be purchasing this title for my branch. My teen patrons will love it!
  • (5/5)
What a wonderful book! I love that the author has taken the time to show in detail, step by step how to do many different styles. Jenny Strebe has also broken it down further by showing what types of hair work best with each style and then she also cross references styles within the book to others in the book to make sure you fully understand how to do a style. The back of the book has hair care tips and the different tools needed to do the styles she has put in the book. The photography is beautifully done and the illustrations are well drawn. I suggest this book to anyone with longer hair looking to change up their style without having to cut it. This book would be good for a stylist in their shop or in a private home to work with your own hair from.I received a copy of this book for the purpose of review.
