    History of Quinoa:

    First thing is first; the actual food of quinoa is a grain-like crop grown for it’s edible seeds (the part that we enjoy and cook with!) Although quinoa seems as thought it is just now coming into popularity, quinoa has actually been around for about 3,000 to 4,000 years!

    It was first used for consumption by the human species in South America in the region of the Andes mountains (the countries of Bolivia, Peru, and Colombia to be exact). They found it so versatile and useful that Incan tribes soon started calling it the mother grain.

    Quinoa found it’s way to North America with the help of both the Native Americans and Spanish and European explorers, who, unintentionally, brought recognition of the grain to the United States.

    Upon its early arrival to the United States, the people took a break from quinoa and eventually forgot about it until the 1980’s in the Colorado mountain area where residents who studied the Andes region came across, once again, the significance and convenience of quinoa, and started spreading it around again to the entire country, this time to stay popular for good as the all around ‘super food’!

    How to Purchase & Store Quinoa:

    There are a few different ways that you can purchase your quinoa.

    Most people who tend to look for it at the local grocery store, often are at a loss for where exactly to look! Therefore, when you are trying to locate it at your local grocery story, try and look in the NATURAL or ORGANIC section of your store. NOT ALL grocery stores will have quinoa, but most bigger chain grocery stores should have them both in small packages and in
