She is a writer, spiritual director, international speaker, and book designer with a passion for ministering to fellow souls. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Christian Ministry and a Certificate of Spiritual Formation and Discipleship from George Fox Evangelical Seminary in addition to her Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University. Sarah lives in Salem, Oregon where she loves to go hiking, dragon boating, and work on her photography. She is passionate about living her life as a gift.

      Introduction

      I remember as a high school student singing in a Christmas musical at church. One of the songs that has stayed with me ever since went something like this: Got to get a gift, got to get a good gift, got to do my Christmas shopping! Got to get it here, got to get it there, not enough time for stopping! Come next year, one thing’s clear, my shopping will be done. I’ll start in January so Christmas will be fun! These lyrics were accompanied by a crowd of people running around the stage with shopping bags, comparing with each other hideous gifts they had bought for their friends. This picture would be enormously amusing if it wasn’t so true, if this frenzy isn’t what we see every year when people realize Christmas is just a few weeks away.

      I admit, I am guilty along with the rest when I realize how close Christmas is and knowing I have hardly even started thinking about Christmas surprises for my family and friends.
