Dedication
I would like to dedicate this book to my Great Aunt Rosie, my Great Uncle Leroy, my Mom and Dad, my Brothers, KPRT, Tim Maile, and my Grandparents for teaching me to believe in myself and follow my dreams. Thank you for never giving up on me. I love you all!
Acknowledgments
There are so many people who have made me the person I am today, and I would like to take this time to acknowledge those people. Without you, this book would have never been possible.
Aunt Rosie, I love you with all my heart, and words cannot express how much I miss you. I think about you often and know that you’re with me. I give you much of the credit for how things are in my life, because I feel like you had a big part in it. Everything I do, I do to make you proud! I love you with all my heart, Aunt Rosie!
To my Mom and Dad. You have always been there for me. You have fought to make me happy. I am so fortunate that you continue to push me to be all that I can be. I love you Mom and Dad!
To KPRT. I never thought that I would have such a close group of friends as my team mates. You are a part of my family. You have all helped shape me into who I am today. Thank you all for helping me believe in me and making our mission a reality.
Tim Maile. Where do I start? I strongly believe that KPRT would not be where it is today without your support, and the fact that you believe in me and my team. Thank you my friend! I look forward to a life long friendship with you.
To my Grandparents. You have always believed in me, and whenever I talk to you about technology, you'd always say how smart I am. Your unconditional love and support means a lot to me and I couldn’t have asked for better Grandparents. I love you!
My brothers. You drive me up the wall sometimes, but you will always be my brothers and I will always love you guys!
Chapter 1: Childhood
Growing up, I was a happy child. I always had a smile on my face and rarely frowned. Mom always told me, that I hardly ever cried. If I would fall down, or run into things, I would get up, smile, and continue to play. In other words, things that would make most little children cry, wouldn’t phase me. Mom always claimed that she knew when I REALLY hurt myself, because I'd cry. Life seemed normal as far as I knew. I had a few close friends, a happy family life, and the cartoon Pinky and The Brain
was a daily ritual. Let’s skip ahead to my elementary school years. I spent those years at St. Francis Catholic Elementary School in Hollandtown, WI. There, I made many friends. I loved the teachers, whom were kind, fair, and cared for all of us. We were a very close knit community. I really loved it at this school. Not a lot of students, which meant that everyone knew each other, and no one was left out. Towards the end of my 5th grade school year, I received bad news. I don’t exactly remember what day it was, but I do remember that I had just arrived at school and noticed that something was off. The atmosphere seemed heavy, almost like the air before a storm. I went through the day, curious about what I was sensing. However, the remainder of the school day went uneventful. After the bell rang for the end of the final period, I proceeded out into the hallway to get my backpack. I then walked to the designated bus pick up area and spoke to my friends while I waited for my school bus. I didn’t live too far away from school, so the ride home was relatively short. As the bus drove up, I felt excited. I boarded the bus and was greeted by the usual hello
of the bus driver. Within a few minutes I was home and the first thing I did was go to the fridge and get something to eat. I always
