Suicide Pacts Agreed Upon Plans To Die
()
About this ebook
Suicide Pacts involve two or more persons who agree to commit suicide. The individuals do not necessarily have to be in the presence of one another. Instead the pact may specify attempting to kill oneself alone but at the same time as someone else. I have found through research that its sometimes not easy to reconstruct a suicide pact after the deaths occur. For example, one or more of the parties may have left behind notes that did no include every detail, or perhaps left out someone who was involved. Feelings possessed by persons who commit suicide in a pact are sometimes not apparent. For example two men who kill themselves over the unrequited love of a woman. There are instances when it is very difficult to find whether the female involved had affection for one or both men. Or even if she knew them at all.

A suicide pact involves the suicides of two or more persons in an agreed-upon plan. The plan may be carried out so that the individuals die together, or separately, albeit at a designated time. Suicide pacts have been a part of history for centuries. They are significant topics of study for both health care professionals and psychology researchers. Suicide pacts are frequently discussed in fictional literature as well.
One study of the frequency of suicide pacts, covering the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century, was published in 2006 by the The Stationery Office, the United Kingdom. The book is titled A New Homicide Act For England And Wales? A Consultation Paper. One pertinent finding in this volume of research is the frequency of successful suicide pacts per year, on average. This number was found to be between ten and fifteen since the passage of Section 4 of the 1957 Homicide Act. Figure 1 The Truth About Suicide This twenty-first century paper reveals that 124 people in England and Wales died in 64 different suicide pacts between 1988-1992. During the same period of time there were 144 cases of homicide-suicide. 327 people died in these 144 instances. Many homicide-suicides are veritable suicide pacts. They involve scenarios in which a victim has given his/her consent to be killed.
My e-book is a departure from any type of clinical study. Instead the text presents my research about a number of suicide pacts in the United States during
