About this ebook

This simple story by author Stephen Wunderli and illustrator Tim Zeltner is more than a fun Halloween read—Little Boo is a heartwarming tale perfect for any child who can't wait to grow up.

The leaves fall, the wind blows, and one little pumpkin seed tries and tries to be scary. But he doesn't scare anyone . . . not the snowflakes in winter, not the bees in spring, not even the watering can!

The wind tells him to be patient—he'll be scary soon enough. But waiting is hard. Will the little seed ever be really, truly scary?

Little Boo tells the story of a pumpkin seed who wants to be scary. He tries to scare the fallingleaves, the garden grubs and the first snowflakes of the season, by yelling boo! but no oneseems to be bothered by the little seed. This makes Little Boo very sad until his friend, the wind, encourages him to be patient, telling Little Boo "You'll be scary soon enough." Little Boo waits through the long winter and then in the spring he starts to grow into a pumpkin plant. All summer he tries to scare bugs, shovels and buckets but he is still not scary. Finally as autumn comes around again, Little Boo has grown into a big pumpkin. He is carved into a jack o'lantern and on Halloween night his wish finally comes true! This adorable story combines the life cycle of a seed with Halloween fun. The illustrations are colorful, do a beautiful job of conveying the changing seasons and work well with the text. Recommended for pre‐K‐2 audience.
