Romance is not dead. I’m making sure of it tonight. The weight of every hope and dream I’ve ever had since hearing my first fairy tale is pressing against my hip, hidden in a silk pouch tucked deep into the pocket of my jeans. While I know people fall in love every day, propose to the one they love, asking them to be linked forever mind, body and soul, I know this is different because it is my time. I’ve found my princess and tonight I am going to ask her to marry me.

My heart swells with more emotions than I thought were possible to experience when she looks at me. This is too perfect.

We kept an eye out the window as our ears listened to their words. We were so sure they were once again false prophets. The skies were grey but clear. Surely the storm was going to change its mind and go somewhere else to torture souls for the weekend.

Her apartment was close to downtown. The old brownstones pressed together in one of the original neighborhoods that started up in the city’s infancy lend an air to the domesticity of a town that originally started as a settlement camp in the middle of the plains. I know parking is
