About this ebook

If you want success like you want a drink after ten hours working hard in summer heat, then The Motivation Code is the system you need to get yourself on the right road fast. There are five actions you can start doing today. If you do them consistently, you will achieve most things you attempt. This is not 'get rich quick' scheme, just a very clear road map to follow. Action One is about discovering yourself. Many dismiss it as unnecessary. You'll be the one wearing the grin when you realise how vital it is. Action Two is a hack that leads to an understanding of your greatest ability. Action Three is the choice you'll make after doing the first two.
Now you're more than half way. Action Four digs out the emotional reasons you want success, as logical reasons for action will never motivate you. And Action Five is where you ride off into tomorrow, knowing exactly where you're going, what the price will be, and why. It's a simple code. And its effect is stunning, if you use it for good. Will you?

Ant grew up in New Zealand, spending his early years in a half-built house surrounded by books and building materials.Since then, he’s travelled to several different places, and done a swathe of stuff, from architecture with earth and straw, to writing, to selling homes, to puzzle making and bus driving.Along the way, he discovered that while designing houses was a dream job, helping people to build belief in themselves was more rewarding.Anthony’s last few decades have been a ‘forty year wander’. For the time being, he lives on Samos, in the Greek Islands. He aims to inspire you to find that place where your skills, passion and the needs of others coincide, and to be happy and at peace working there.

    Success Requires Self Motivation

Are you motivated best by rewards or penalties? Carrots or sticks? In other words, what would get you out of bed faster: the threat of pain you’ll suffer for non-performance, or the promise of a large reward for succeeding?

Self-Motivation is often hard. And it’s even more difficult to get ‘up’ for things when you aren’t sure they are the right things. For years, I found myself returning to the same blank sheet of paper, wondering what I was supposed to do with life, as nothing I tried brought long-term satisfaction.

I’ve heard that story from many others. If self-fulfilment is the destination, what is the route? We’re often conflicted between what seems right, and what others say we should do, so we chop and change and never reach a satisfying place.

Sometimes there are several seemingly good options, and we don’t know where to put our effort, or we simply haven’t enough belief - or something - to put our heart into our actions consistently.

When you don’t get your stuff done, you’ll blame a lack of motivation. And it’s true that your lack of will to get something done will rob you of the energy you need to complete it. But it’s quite likely that this stems from one of two basic reasons for inaction:

    A lack of desire

The results you’ll get through action may be ‘nice to have’, but you haven’t yet decided you want those results.

    OR

    A lack of belief

You may know your next step, but can’t see a way to do it. This could be because you really don’t know. But it could be because you’re telling yourself you don’t know. Either will lead to a loss of motivation as you will stop trying to achieve something you think is not possible.

To illustrate with a clear example: If a lion is coming after you, do you hesitate to take action? No, because your aim - to stay alive - is clear in your mind, and emotionally desired. You want to live! So you run, or fight, whichever is appropriate. Are you motivated to take action? Yes! As you begin to take action, you might not yet believe that there is a chance to save your life, but you know that inaction will result in you losing it. And the fear of receiving pain is a very powerful motivator.

However, back at home, or in the office, if you haven’t decided why you want something, you’ll hesitate to go after
