- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5McElligott, M. (2012). Even Aliens Need Snacks. New York: Walker & Company. 40 pp. ISBN: 978-0802723987. (Hardcover); $14.99. Swiss cheese donut holes? Turnip-side-down cake? Sponge cake with leeks? Who would eat such things?! Aliens of course! Opening up a summer snack stand, this young boy’s stand is a hit for aliens, with these signature dishes. But will these aliens eat anything he creates? You’ll have to read this silly story to find out. Kids, kindergarten to third grade, will laugh at how disgusting the snacks this boy creates are. -Shannon
