A cute book. It is an easy read. I also thought it sounded like a June B. Jones book.
This is a sweet little chapter book about a girl named Grace. She is called Just Grace because there are other Graces in her classroom. Grace loves to help people and make lists. In this story she tries to cheer up a neighbor named Mrs. Luther and learns to get along with a "yucky boy" named Sammy Stringer. Of course she learns about herself and others in the process.Grace is a good role model for readers because she really cares about people. There are many other books in this sweet series. I recommend it for 2nd-4th grade.
This story was about Grace, Grace is a little girl who loves cats especially taking pictures of them. She also likes drawing comics which are pictures throughout the book. Sammy-Stringer is a boy who Grace does not like at all. I found this story very cute, its funny to me because at her age you love doing the simple things in life. I would recommend this book to any young girl.
First there was Ramona Quimby. Then Clementine, and now, while we're wishing for more installments about them, we have Grace Stewart - the 4th Grace in her classroom, and so called Just Grace. She's implausibly precocious, good, and wise, awfully good at drawing comics, and not too sure how she feels about boys and boy things (like drawing comics about heroes with special powers).
She's not quite as charming, imo, nor do I empathize with her parents quite so much, as I do the first two characters mentioned, but I will be looking at my library for more from the series. After all, I did laugh out loud, and share some sweet bits, with my family while I was reading.

I found Grace likeable but not memorable.
Grace has a little bit of Junie B Jones in her.
There are four Graces in the same class and each one, out of necessity, acquires a nickname. Grace becomes “Just Grace,” but it is not a nickname she likes. Her greatest ability is empathy. Just Grace uses her powers to help a neighbor cope with a lost cat with mixed results.

In an attempt to differentiate between the four girls, her teacher gives them nicknames and somehow Grace ends up being called "Just Grace" (which she is not too happy about). The rest of the book is about Grace making it through her third grade year. She has to deal with Sammy Stringer, her archenemy, and she also tries to find her neighbors missing cat Crinkles, whom Grace likes very much. I found this book to be really charming and fun to read. It could easily appeal to second grade through fifth grade. Throughout the book are simple drawings because Grace likes drawing comics. There is also the occasional photograph, usually with a caption written by Grace. What I liked most about this book is the voice of Grace - she is quite confident and funny.
Just Grace, is a fun chapter book that introduces you to a young 3rd grader named Grace Stewart. In a classroom with 3 other Graces, she tries her best to be a unique individual and to find her place within her 3rd grade peers. Grace spends her time drawing comics, sending out post card to her next door neighbor, and plays detective with her friends. We learn that she even has super power that lets her know when someone is unhappy, even when they pretend they are not. Throughout the novel, the reader experiences Graces relationships with her friends, peers, and family, and we learn that she has other great abilities besides her “super power.” This is a fun book that many elementary school readers will enjoy and relate to. It is perfect to have in a classroom or school library for grades 2-4.
This is so good and a quick read
There is never a dull moment in your life when your name is Grace. Discover her world and the trials of being a 3rd grader. Almost a collection of short stories that do have a common thread. You are introduced to her school, neighborhood, family and friends. Go along with her many zany ideas which ultimately lead her into trouble. A girl who strikes you as wise beyond her years with an over active imagination which equals laughter and fun.
My 7 year old daughter and I read this story together. She liked the small illustrations and their captions that were very humorous. An appealing character that is a typical middle grade girl but certainly not average. She is crafty and clever yet manages to charm you while being mischievous. Very funny and entertaining! I am now hooked on Just Grace!

Cute story for middle graders. Great illustrations and plot. Loved the characters
