      SECTION ONE: Introduction

      Let’s start by saying up front what this book is not.

      It’s not going to show you how to get rich quick. Nor is it a step-by-step guide to making millions on the Internet without doing a stroke of work. Even if such a product existed — and I’m pretty sure it doesn’t — you’re not going to find it online for pennies.

      Other books show you how to use the likes of Google AdSense, Amazon, and Fiverr.com to make money online. These systems will get you started quickly, but it’s almost impossible to generate a wage-level income from them. If you still want to try after using my method, I’ll show you how in the last few chapters.

      I’m only going to give you the information you need. I don’t want to waste any of our time on waffle and repetition. Think of it as your idiot’s guide to making money online. If you need more detailed information, I’ll be pointing you in the right direction.

      What I’m going to teach you is how to sell high quality, medium-cost products to people who genuinely want to buy them. I’ll show you how to find potential buyers, where to source digital products that will delight them, and earn you a 50-75% commission in the process. Typically, that’ll be $25-$75 every sale.

      After that, I’ll show you how to produce your own products, and keep all the profits. Plus, several other ways of making money online.

      Along the way, you’ll be shown how to build great-looking websites, and make search engines such as Google proud to display them at the top of their results. Apart from helping you start a specific online business, I’ll be showing you a variety of useful skills.

      Warning: effort is required. All businesses, whether online or offline, need time and energy to set them up and keep them running. If you don’t think you have the commitment and drive to make this work, please stop reading now, and forget you ever found me.

      How The Internet Can Help Make You Make Money

      There’s never been a better time in history to start a new business. The Internet has made it possible for us to trade with just about anyone else in the world. Unless you own a hosting company or are selling domain names, you’re not going to be making money from the Internet. What I’m going to show you is how to make money using the Internet.

      If you look at a traditional offline business, such as a typical mom and pop grocery store, you’ll see that almost all of their customers will live or work locally. Some shop-owners might advertise in the local paper or on the city’s radio stations, but generally they’ll be relying on passers-by.

      Trading on the Internet opens up the world. Its potential is massive. When you have an online business, you can sell your products to literally anyone on this planet with an Internet connection. They can be in the same street as you, or thousands of miles away.

      You don’t even have to work incredibly long hours like those poor offline shopkeepers. Your Internet business will automatically be taking money for you, 24-7, even if you’re sleeping, at the movies, or relaxing on the beach.

      Some people call this passive income, which is a term I don’t much like. It implies you get money for doing nothing, which certainly isn’t the case. Taking positive action is the only real secret to success. A passive income is only passive to the extent that you do the hard work at the beginning, and you reap your rewards later.

      This book is written as much for experienced webmasters as it is for first-timers. I’ve tried to make everything simple and easy to follow, whilst at the same time, advanced enough to get the very best out of the system. I strongly advice experienced readers not to skip anything: my way of working will not always be the same as you’ve been taught.

      Think Like An Entrepreneur

      You’ve got to be willing to invest a certain amount of time and effort before you see any money. This is why most people fail. Like ants, they think and act like workers. A worker is someone who gets paid for doing a job and, unless they receive regular and timely rewards, they stop working.

      Have no illusions: it will take time before you see any results. Several weeks, maybe even months. Even though you’re not being paid straight away, you have to keep going. If you don’t, all the time and effort you’ve put in up to that point will have been wasted. Going into business for yourself means you have to think like an entrepreneur and not like a worker.

      The Oxford English Dictionary defines an entrepreneur as: a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. That’s got to be you.

      The business model I’m going to show you here doesn’t require a whole lot of financial risk: less than $200 will do it, even if you invest in labor-saving software. It will require plenty of time and effort. If you think like a worker, you’ll soon give up and be cursing me for ripping you off. If you can think and act like an entrepreneur, then you will ultimately succeed.

      Of course, you will have to follow the steps I show you and be prepared for possible setbacks — they do happen, even to the best of us — but that’s all part of it. I might not be able to turn you into a Donald Trump, Lord Sugar or Richard Branson, but I can show you how to make money online.

      The strategy I’m going to show you is not a brand new concept. For years, people have been making money using outdated versions that simply don’t work any more. I have turned the strategy on its head, and added new tweaks of my own. That’s what’s new. These methods are unique, and they do work. I believe they show you the easiest, most effective way to make money online.

      If a single website can make you $250 a month (a totally realistic target), then ten will earn you $2,500; twenty, $5,000; and a hundred, $25,000. That’s every single month, year in, year out. Once you’ve put in the initial effort, your websites will only need a small amount of maintenance to keep them going at full throttle.

      Of course, not every website will make you $250 — you’ve got to allow for a certain amount of duds — but it’s also likely that you’ll build sites that will bring in much more than $250 a month.

      Once a site is built, it becomes an asset you can sell. For example, a website earning $250 a month can easily be sold for anything between $2,250 and $3,000. I’ll show you how (and where) you can flip your websites.

      Many online entrepreneurs make extra income by building websites for friends and local businesses. I’ll show you how you can build a good-looking site that’s optimized for the search engines in just a few hours. This is the type of site people will pay between $300-$500 each for, every day of the week. If you want to earn money quickly and you’re prepared to put yourself out there to find customers, this is a great way of doing it. And it’s just a sideline to the main business I’m going to show you.

      You might be wondering, Who is this guy with all the promises? If he’s so darn clever, why isn’t he doing it himself? Actually, I am. This book shows you exactly how I earn a decent part-time income online.

      My name is Jack Davies. I work mainly as an IT teacher and WordPress website guru. I’ve been working online for over twenty years, long enough to know that there’s no button you can press that will start money flooding into your bank account.

      There are no secrets the gurus don’t want you to know, just businesses that will work if you do the right things in roughly the right order. That’s what I’m here to teach you.

      Working From Home

      Before we get stuck into the meat of making money online, I’m going to start by looking at the advantages (and disadvantages) of being your own boss, working from home. If you’re just looking for a part-time income, you can skip this section.

      The Advantages

      The biggest plus I’ve had from not having to travel to my job (aside from walking down the stairs, into my office), is the amount of time I save every week. Although it is possible to work while you travel, I found that rarely happened for me. I was losing up to three hours a day, just getting from A to B and back again. Twenty-one hours of my precious time wasted, every single week.

      Even if I split those extra hours in half and awarded myself a generous two hours a day for meals and coffee breaks, I realized I’d be able to spend another 11 hours every week earning money. That was my thinking and what
