Introduction

Warning: This book is not what you expect it will be!

There are many books out there for Christians who want to convert atheists. Many of these apologetics books are poorly researched and not field tested. Many simply do not provide good methods or techniques for converting atheists. They mostly provide a list of reasons we Christians can be sure we are correct in our faith. These books do a good job at comforting the Christian and fortifying faith but provide no practical information on how to actually convert atheists. They lack insight into how atheists think and what they really think of believers.

Many apologetic resources are based on the assumption that if we can just show atheists how indisputable Christ’s existence is, or if we prove to the atheist that the universe had to be the product of an intelligent designer; then they will have to drop their atheism and become Christians. This is a false assumption.

Yes many atheists do convert after being shown the evidence of Christ’s existence but most do not.

In this book you will learn how to convert atheists.

This book is divided into 5 Steps.

In the First Step you will learn how to prepare yourself for Spiritual warfare.

In the Second Step you will learn all about the psychology of the atheist. You will learn about what they really believe and how to tell the different types of atheists apart. You will learn valuable misconceptions about atheists that cause confusion when Christians speak to them.

In the Third Step you will learn what atheists actually believe about the origin of life. There is a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding that will be cleared up for you.

In the Forth Step you will learn what atheists actually say about Jesus and the Bible. This is important in understanding their worldview.

In the Fifth Step you will learn how to actually convert atheists. You must master the first four steps before doing this. This chapter will include a list of logic fallacies and common arguments to avoid.

All through the reading you will learn valuable dos and don’ts with regard to dealing with atheists.

As the following verses testify we as Christians have an obligation to defend our faith. We can’t just call ourselves Christians yet not be able to offer a good defense of our faith. We must also do so with kindness.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15, King James Version)

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ (June verses 3 & 4, King James Version).

Warning: As you read this book and read the opinions of atheists you may become offended. You may become offended that I present them much as they would. Some of my readers may find their arguments compelling and wonder why I could include them. If your faith can’t handle this book then you can’t convert atheists. We are engaged in spiritual warfare against atheism and no war is won without understanding the enemy.

Step 1: Prepare yourself for spiritual warfare

This Book is Important because we are losing the culture war!

We are losing the culture war. If we lose this war families will continue to fall apart and our nation will suffer. We must encourage the culture of stability and love that Christianity promotes. We need more Christians.

CNN reporter Dan Merica has led the media pack in reporting on the growth of the secularism and doubt in God.1 Our nation is changing!

If we don’t act we accept the inevitable fate of losing God’s blessing as a nation.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance (Psalms 33:12, King James Version)

A nation without God's guidance is a nation without order. Happy are those who keep God's law! (Proverbs 29:18, Today’s English Version)

If you are reading this then obviously you have an interest in making the world a better place and saving the souls of others. You understand the importance of having Christ in your life and how much that can help someone find inner peace and experience the joys of heaven. Perhaps you have a son or daughter who has drifted away from Christ and are engaged in a sinful lifestyle. Perhaps your spouse no longer finds comfort in attending Church or you wish he or she would start attending with you.

This book is divided into five steps. I encourage you to be patient with yourself and master the steps individually. The most important and detailed step will be Step 5, which can be divided into a number of steps itself. Let the Spirit guide you to be a master of the first five steps before attempting to convert atheists. Each step is stated as an order. This is done not only to better organize the book, but also because you are soldiers in the Army of God. These are biblically based orders that will make you a better soldier of God, ever ready to engage in spiritual warfare.

The book is also a guide book. A good guide doesn’t just tell you what not to do but what to do as well. Each Step has various lists of do’s and don’ts so that you might better understand how to execute the orders. Exercises and Quizzes may be included to help with understanding.

Do

Know why you do this. If you are not sure of yourself and why you want to convert atheists you will feel doubt. There will be a hole in your armor through which the powers of evil will attack.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6: 11-13, King James Version).

As emphasized in Ephesians we are up against spiritual wickedness and we must take on the whole armor of God.

Anticipate what the atheists will say to you. As Jesus’ interaction with Satan in Matthew Chapter 4 shows us, Satan is very well versed in the scriptures and we can be sure he is well versed in the knowledge of this world. This book is the result of many conversations with atheists. The information you’ll read will help you to know what they will say before they even say it. Anticipating an attack allows us to defeat it. Steps 3 and 4 are all about anticipating what the atheists will say when you speak to them.

Remember the cost of failure. The nature of the country is changing. If it continues the way it is going we will be a nation of Gay marriage, celebrated abortions and socialism. We will lose the blessings of God which made us the light of the world thus far.

Don’t

Do not lose faith.

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 2: 16, King James Version).

Faith is a shield. It blocks us from unpleasant blows. How long will a soldier last without a shield? Do not lose faith in your ability to change someone’s heart; do not lose faith in Christ.

Exercise

Visualization is a powerful process. Our brains have difficulty telling the difference between fantasy and reality. If you practice something in your mind your brain might interpret that as real practice. For this reason you should visualize yourself being a successful soldier for Christ. To clarify imagine yourself talking to an atheist; if possible imagine one you know. Imagine them nodding their head in agreement with what you say. Imagine them disagreeing but you counter with a logic blow that causes them to think. Now imagine them being baptized. What would that feel like? It would feel good. Our mortal bodies are motivated by fear and pleasure. It was pleasurable to think of them coming to Christ. Now we must consider things we are afraid of to motivate us as well. Imagine what the U.S. would be like after it lost the blessings of God.

Understand the Adversary

In the Art of War.2 Sun Tzu stresses the importance of knowing one’s enemy. Modern day military forces spend billions of dollars on reconnaissance and spying. People train for years to look like the enemy and live amongst them. If Christians are to ever learn how to convert atheists they must learn how they think and why they think it. Christian soldiers must also understand the emotions behind atheism.

We are fallen creatures who allow our emotions to guide us rather than the reason that God bestowed upon us that separates us from the animals. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23, King James Version). When people sin they are acting out emotions such as greed and selfishness. People live in a cycle in which they sin and then attempt to personally justify their sin. They sin because they are ruled by their emotions then try to justify their actions after the act. This is a process called rationalization.

Important Definition to Understand: Rationalization is the process of having a conclusion and then looking for premises or reasons why the conclusion is correct. Logical reasoning does the opposite; a person takes reasons and or premises and from those comes to a conclusion.

Humans are very willing to justify or rationalize any decision they make emotionally. It is this tendency that is used to justify sin that you will learn to use to justify faith in Christ and help
