Descrizione

With over 60 Recipes, Bonus Activities, and Metric Conversion Charts, the kids will be busy having fun and tasting great and healthy food. The kids will have a fun time cooking for themselves or for the family. This cookbook was inspired by kids for kids and is intended to allow them to have a little independence in the kitchen; some recipes will require a little assistance.

Hey Kids:
This cookbook was inspired by Lars and Anya Wagoner, two fun-loving American kids living in Spain with their parents. Since living in Spain they have been able to try new foods, but sometimes they miss their favorites from the USA. It isn't easy to find many of the “American treats” in Spain, so they learned how to just make it on their own. They decided they wanted to share some of their favorites, so you can cook too!

Lars and Anya selected recipes they thought you could make yourself, but there are some that will require you to ask for an adult assistant. If you want to make something just for you, several recipes are written for a single serving.

Have fun and tell your parents to “Let the Kids Cook!”

Acknowledgements

We would like to thank all those who have supported us in our pursuit of creating this cookbook and those that have inspired us to love cooking and trying new things.

Wella (Great Grandma): Thank you to Wella for teaching us how to make tortillas, tamales, and all of the traditional Mexican dishes. You have shown us how to cook with love and we love cooking with you.

Grandma Linda: Thank you to Grandma Linda for inspiring us to cook from a young age. We love when you come to visit, because we know we will be cooking some good food! You always make everything look so easy and with your help, we aren’t afraid to experiment in the kitchen and try new things.

Grandma Bev: While you aren’t too adventurous with food, you do make it crazy and fun when in the kitchen making ribs and combination. Thank you for your adventurous spirit.

Mom and Dad: Thanks for everything. This move to Spain has inspired us to do things we normally wouldn't do (like cooking by ourselves). We have learned to adapt to change and be more independent and are grateful to have acquired these skills. Mom, thanks for doing a lot of the book writing, editing and taking pictures of the food we cooked. Dad, thanks for designing the book cover and the icons and helping us eat the food, sometimes before Mom could take the picture.

Photos: The majority of the photos in this cookbook were taken by Wagoners Abroad. There are a few photos from other sources, used under the Creative Commons License. Those photos will be labeled as such.

About Us

We are Lars and Anya Wagoner, two American kids living in Spain with our parents. Since living in Spain we have been able to try new foods, but sometimes we miss our favorites from the USA. It isn’t easy to find many of the American treats in Spain, so we have learned how to just make them ourselves.

Chef Anya & Chef Lars Wagoner

We each started cooking at a very young age. Then when we were about 5 years old, we got to explore a little more with cooking on our own. Before that we were just the helpers. Don’t tell our parents, but we really love to cook with our Grandma Linda the most. She makes the best food and we get to make fancy things with her.

We decided that we wanted to share some of our favorites with you, so you can cook too. Sometimes we are even in charge of dinner for the family and that is very exciting. We did need to ask our Mom and Dad to help out with writing up our ideas, our favorite recipes, creating the illustrations and take the pictures.

We tried to pick recipes that we thought you could make yourself, but there are some that will require you to ask for an adult assistant. There are more than 60 recipes to choose from, so just ask your parents what they think. We also made many of the recipes’ individual serving size, so you can make a quick snack on your own.

So here is a cool fun cooking fact about us. If you say our names together it sounds like a yummy food. I know, you think we are nuts. It really does sound like a yummy food. Do you wanna hear it? Okay, just say our names together really fast. First Lars (pronounced like Mars, but with an L) and then Anya (pronounced On Ya).

Okay do it…. LarsAnya. Say our names rapidly together…What kind of food is it? Did you figure it out? One more time…LarsAnya!

Yep, our names sound like Lasagna!

That is something we love, but we didn’t put a
