INTRODUCTION
This book is written for women who want to turn their bad days and disappointing life into something more fabulous.
After surviving my fair share of difficulties, I have learned some strategies and philosophies for coping and thriving, and I would like to pass on my tips to empower you to create a happy and positive life.
I am no shining example of perfection. Neither am I into crystals and feathers. I am a normal woman who has weathered some big storms and had some amazing spiritual experiences, and has emerged with the attitude that life is meant to be enjoyed.
Creating more happiness is our constant goal.
Luckily I have always had the conviction that there is something positive to be gleaned from every negative situation. The tougher it gets, the greater the lesson must be, or so I believe. I choose to think this way because I want to grow from experiencing loss and stress, not wallow in them. Throughout the book I have included anecdotes from my life to illustrate my point, and humorous illustrations to help you to laugh at yourself and life in general.
My hope is that you have chosen this book because you are curious what a fabulous life would be like and you want to do-it-yourself. It is not a text book to read quickly and put on a shelf. It is best approached as a manual that you will make notes from, especially in the areas that appeal to you most. If you work with your unique strengths it will be easier to reach your goal. You can use a lovely new journal and coloured pens or make notes on a tablet – it doesn’t matter how you get there as long as you enjoy the process.
In each message I will explain, very succinctly, WHY you should do what I am suggesting and what the benefits are, and then I will show you with simple points, HOW TO do it.
The first step is to encourage your state of mind towards more happy thoughts
The second step is to live a balanced life that involves your mind and body humming along together.
The third step is to share your balanced and happy life with other people. It’s about you out in the world.
The fourth step is to improve your appearance and your surroundings to help you to feel more fabulous.
The fifth step is to enhance your fabulous life by managing your money well.
The sixth step is to dream up a more fabulous future.
You will discover that when you have all these elements cruising along in a more joyful way, you will feel fabulous.
Everyone has a past and an accumulation of events that make up the story of their life. Sometimes it’s a sad or complicated one. No matter what your story is you can choose to stubbornly hold onto this identity or you can let it go and create a new story, one that is full of optimism and improvisation.
Believing that you deserve a great life is the first step towards building one.
All of the ideas in this book are easy to apply straight away. Don’t wait for the right moment – start now!
CHAPTER 1
FEELING IT
A fabulous life starts with your state of mind. Are your thoughts mostly happy or sad? Does the voice in your head encourage or berate you?
Your first task will be to increase the number of happy thoughts that you have, because happiness is a wonderful state of mind that spreads into your body and eventually permeates your life.
I will explain:
how you can create more happiness
how you can keep it
how you can share it
how you can expand it.
Think of me as your happiness coach because I am going to guide you to new ways of seeing your life and help you to make changes that you will want to maintain. My goal is to shake up your thinking so that eventually you will happily accept everything that comes along, and look for the positives in every situation.
Happiness is not something you need to attain; it’s quietly curled up inside you waiting to be joyfully released.
So how can you increase your happiness quota?
There are five easy habits that will help you to feel good about your life without having to lift a finger. They encompass the positive states of mind that will bring you more contentment:
feeling good about yourself
feeling joyful moments everywhere
feeling grateful for everything
feeling optimistic about your life
feeling present in your life.
These feelings are the foundation of your happiness.
Now let me help you to put them into practice and build on them to create a fabulous and fulfilling life.
FEELING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF
When you feel good about yourself you feel happy.
When you feel happy you feel good about yourself.
These two facts are inextricably linked.
So how can you feel good about yourself just by being you?
First of all be happy with who you are right now. When you look in the mirror smile and let your eyes light up. Look deep into them and marvel at their uniqueness. No two sets of eyes are the same anywhere in the world. Both your appearance and personality are unique, and you possess many wonderful attributes.
Focus on the things you like about yourself and your body, and not the ones you don’t.
Write a list of at least five of them. Take your time and don’t leave anything out. This exercise is not about having a big ego it’s about knowing and appreciating you. When someone compliments you, believe them and say thank you.
Hug the list to your heart because it represents you!
Refer to your list whenever you have self-doubt because it is important
