About this ebook
Laughter is one of the most under appreciated assets we have at our disposal. Most people just haven’t recognized its importance. Since the ability to laugh is something that has generally always been with us and is something that comes free, we have tended not to recognise its importance. Most parents will encourage their children to get a good education, to eat the right foods, to get adequate exercise, to save money for the future, etc., but one seldom hears parents or teachers say to children, “It’s important to get plenty of laughter”. Yet there is hardly anything more useful for enriching one’s life.

Introduction
Laughter is one of the most under appreciated assets we have at our disposal. Most people just haven’t recognized its importance. Since the ability to laugh is something that has generally always been with us and is something that comes free, we have tended not to recognise its importance. Most parents will encourage their children to get a good education, to eat the right foods, to get adequate exercise, to save money for the future, etc., but one seldom hears parents or teachers say to children, It’s important to get plenty of laughter
. Yet there is hardly anything more useful for enriching one’s life.
Because the ability to laugh is a free gift from God, we’ve tended not to notice that it affects people in so many positive and amazing ways. For a starter, it releases endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals produced in the brain that are released into the body in order to makes us feel good, and that good feeling can stay with us for many hours after the laughter subsides.
There is no better substitute for dealing with the many day to day difficulties we face and all the obstacles to progress that come our way. It enables us to look at problems from a different point of view, it makes them seem less serious, and it makes it more comfortable for us to face the problems and deal with them.
Our sense of humour is one of the most powerful tools we have to make certain that our daily mood and emotional state fosters good health rather than working against it. Laughter also helps us maintain a healthy lifestyle in general. It’s a practice that is increasingly being recommended by health care professionals as a means of preventive medicine.
You might say that laughter is God’s gifts for helping us to cope with and survive difficulties, both physically and emotionally. Its not generally recognised, but laughter helps us weigh up our options in a creative way. We need to chuckle, giggle, and belly laugh more. These are the sounds that spring from the soul and help us feel better and see things more clearly.
Laughter helps us balance our daily activities. It balances rushing around with rest, work with play, seriousness with fun, and heaviness with lightness. Unfortunately, people tend to laugh less as they get older. This is something we need to attend to. There is a belief that we are inclined to grow old sooner than we should because we stop laughing.
Regular doses of laughter can bring about amazing changes in people’s lives. It changes the character of our thought; it lifts enthusiasm, boosts morale and motivates us to move on. Added to that, it improves our relationships with other people.
Healing power
Perhaps the most important thing about laughter is its healing power. Laughter’s not called the best medicine for nothing. It’s suitable for every kind of illness, it doesn’t have any negative after effects, doesn’t leave
