Chapter 1: In The Laundry Room

When budgets get tight, it can be very difficult to buy basic staples. Fortunately, many of the cleaners found in your laundry room are easy and inexpensive to make yourself. If you have some extra time, here are great recipes to save money on common cleaning products.

    Laundry Detergent

The ingredients for the different laundry detergents can be found in the detergent aisle at your local grocery store as well as in many hardware, pharmacy or internet stores. You will very likely pay less than $10.00 for most of the laundry detergent recipes.

The liquid detergent recipe won’t be solid gel; it turns out slightly chunky, very similar to egg drop soup. But remember, you are not paying for or being exposed to additives that make expensive detergents gel. Just give it a good shake before each use.

Store your homemade detergents and cleaners in empty, cleaned containers.
