Some of us believed that once we became Christians our life would become so much easier. There would be no problems and life would be a breeze. We learned otherwise, because just like Peter, we would be sifted. The end product, though would the the "real stuff," the wheat. The process of getting to the end product would be difficult, but valuable.
After we recovered from our testing, we would not be chastised by our lord, Jesus. Instead we would be told to "feed the sheep." In other words, we would share the love of God in Christ with others and apply the principles we had learned through our testing(s). God's Word would be applied to real life situations. Others would be helped in their journey of faith.
My poetry reflects that position. May some of the lessons I have learned and applied to assisting others in their faith journey help you never to give up, but to walk with Christ daily.

When Odds Seem Insurmountable

See Joshua 1:9

The mother came into the room

that hot and sultry day.

Five of her children gathered in

a group as if at play.

She wanted to discover

the object of their scheme;

But when she saw what they were doing,

she soon began to scream.

Run for your lives!" she told them.

They took her at her word.

Each child grabbed a baby skunk.

This deed really occurred!

The baby skunks were harmless,

like items we might fear.

Some things of which you are afraid,

are not as they appear.

The Ragged Edges

See Luke 22:31

I found a mound of pebbles

strewn all along the bay.

Because the waves had tumbled them,

they sparkled there that day.

The mighty waves and currents,

the action of the sand,

Had worn away each ragged edge

according to God’s plan.

When we face fears or burdens,

and feel like giving in,

A little introspection

might keep our hearts from sin.

All things will work together,

according to God’s plan;

But God might have to polish us

before we understand.

God's Spirit Brings the Flow

See John 7:37

If you are thirsty, Jesus said,

Come unto me and drink.

The source of everlasting life

will never, never shrink.

Behind the mighty overflow

there lies the endless well,

Abundant life, so rich and full,

strength that will never fail.

God's Holy Spirit brings the flow

through Jesus Christ, His Son,

So we can tap the source of life,

and His work can be done.

In Jesus Christ, God’s Only Son,

we have the things we need.

They flow from deeply in the soul.

God’s strength is guaranteed

The Lord Equips the Person

See Acts 2:39-41

The Lord revealed to Moses,

to Gideon and Saul

How they should just cooperate,

and heed the Godly call.

The Lord equips the person

He calls to do a task.

They get the needed guidance

because they trust and ask.

With this new understanding,

we hear the call of God,

and fear does not envelope us,

but we are simply awed.

Equipped to do the service,

prepared for anything,

We work with God and see the fruit

the Holy Spirit brings.

So Much to Give

See Luke 6:38

You have so very much to give

as you live on this earth.

We need your special gift array,

your legacy of birth.

Your special combination,

the talent you possess;

If you will focus past yourself,

then others will be blessed.
