About this ebook

Meditation provides many benefits, but not everyone can find a quiet room or make time in their busy schedules for a long meditation session or class. This book provides both written and recorded guided meditation exercises designed to be experienced in busy, loud, and crowded places like the mall, a bench on a busy city street, a concert, sporting event, or supermarket. The meditations are short and can be done anywhere. The techniques learned during the exercises can be applied to everyday life. Improve your focus, concentration, and ability to appreciate the present moment through these exercises.

    Introduction

    Meditation in Manhattan: The Backstory

In 2013, I had plans to visit family in New York, and tried meditating in Times Square; I thought; if I could meditate there, I could meditate anywhere!

Kids and adults diagnosed with ADD are sometimes treated with stimulants to counter-act their hyperactivity. I wondered if this theory would work when applied to meditation.

I spread the word on social media to encourage a global meditation event in busy locations around the world. I asked participants to send photos and/or videos so I could share with others.

At the time of this writing, I don’t know how this will pan out. I envision millions of folks around the world meditating at the same time. My goal for this project is to increase awareness about the benefits of meditation, in the hopes that it will make the world a better place. If we, as individuals, are more content and peaceful with ourselves, maybe we will become more accepting of each other.

I hope the tips outlined in this book will encourage you to try meditation, and keep it going,
