A gardener and avid explorer of things. I have been growing lilies in one way or another since 2000, taking over for a friend and mentor. At one point having close to 400 different lilies, 60 different peonies, 125 different daylilies, and other assorted perennials in my gardens. I have sold them as finished products to other greenhouses and shipped dormant plants by mail order all over nothern America and also shipped a few to different places over seas.

Introduction
Growing lilies from seed is a very rewarding adventure. Lily seed is a cost effective way of starting many lily species as well as starting your own new hybrid lilies. The lily seeds can be purchased for a fraction of the cost of buying mature lily bulbs. The only thing a person will need is patience, as it can take a bit of time to get the first blooming flower.
There are many different lily species to choose from, about 80 different varieties from all over the world. Many of these will give you a fist flower in two to three years, while others can take up to six or seven years from first planting of the seed. They are worth the wait and reward that comes.
What will be covered is a basic list of species lilies and what group they fall into. They basically fall into quick germinating or delayed germinating. As well simple methods of starting the seeds and how to grow them on.
