Title: Deaf, Dumb, Blind and StupidAuthor: Tremayne MoorePublished: Maynetre Manuscripts, LLC.Reviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: 5Review:"Deaf, Dumb, Blind & Stupid" by Tremayne Moore was a interesting read of a Michael Anderson's. Truly this person experienced so much 'heartache' it was almost to much for me to read but I continued on and made it though till the end. We find this young man is only wanting love and acceptance but unable to find it for himself only abuse. What all did we get from Michael's journal? I liked how this author was able to give the reader such a 'powerful heart breaking and courageous story' that was full of emotions. It was interesting to see how well this story deals with religion and racism in depth referrals to the scriptures and the Bible. O felt "Deaf, Dumb, Blind and Stupid" will really open your eyes and bring healing to all of those who read it. It really bothers me to think that a mother would let this happen to her son and then on to the father, then to the vile uncle and ridicule from his peers only to leave me to say 'OMG! To get it all you must pick up the novel to see how well this author delivers this well written story. It will be one that you will not forget any time soon. Thanks to the author for writing such a well research and well written book. For "Deaf Dumb, Blind and Stupid" definitely offers awareness of child abuse. Would I recommend this novel? Yes, definitely for all victims as well as counselors. Well done to the author!

The opening of the book starts at the funeral of Michael Anderson at Severna Community Church, where Bro. Elliot Freeman shares the life account of the young man who died so soon.Michael was mistreated by his parents, especially his mother, and she trusted him after school with his Uncle Woody who had physically and sexually abused hm. He thought of sharing stories of abuse to bless someone else who has chosen to remain silent but needs to be broken by talking about it with professionals, or those who could have helped. The book shares also valuable lessons: forgiveness, name-calling, fault-finding as if it was the abused fault, relative versus listening to the child who was abused, counseling both professionally and spiritually, and suicidal thoughts."...understand the mystery of God--faith in Him for He's ordered our steps but still have to forgive them although you've been victimized by the abuser...and some feel God allowed it to happen without judgment (page 21, paraphrased).

Deaf, Dumb, Blind & Stupid:

Michael Anderson’s Fight for Life

By Tremayne Moore

Advance Praise for Deaf, Dumb, Blind & Stupid

I don't think anyone can read this story and not be affected in some way. I had to wipe tears as I was reading; it's something that must be talked about.

Shelia Goss (also known as Sparkle),

author of Sade's Secret

Tremayne Moore's, Deaf, Dumb, Blind, and Stupid: Michael Anderson's Fight For Life immediately got my anger against physical and sexual abuse brewing in my soul. Readers will feel Michael's confusion, loneliness and isolation after suffering unspeakable abuse from a family member. Though fiction, the story is all too true for children in our neighborhoods, schools and churches. Deaf, Dumb, Blind and Stupid will educate readers on the signs of abuse. Moore's reading group reflection questions for consideration will promote open discussions. Public awareness will be a life triumph for Moore's character, Michael Anderson.

- Ellen Thomas, author THE BIPOLAR EXPRESS:

One Christian Woman's Life Journey In The

Company Of A Child With Bipolar Disorder

And Asperger's Syndrome.

Tremayne's story is raw and real, painful and personal. It will resonate with those who have been abused physically, sexually, and emotionally or those who know them. To think that Tremayne landed on his feet after his beginnings with faith and came to trust Jesus is beyond miraculous. This gifted author's sincerity, commitment to Christ, and caring for those who ache and for those who flounder with a false Christ makes him an unusually vulnerable man. But one to be reckoned with in Christ; and one who offers the bare, unadulterated truth.

Dr. Lynn K. Wilder,

Former BYU Professor

Author Foreword & Dedication

I dedicate this book to every victim who’s been abused, raped, molested, or ever considered suicide. I also dedicate this book to those who have suffered (or are suffering) from Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (AD/HD), and any spectrum of Autism. Let your voice be heard, even if the world doesn’t want to hear it. It’s time for the abuser to not be let off the hook. The best way to rectify this is to get the appropriate help you need, forgive yourself, pray, and forgive for your abuser. I also add that you need to pray and forgive those who don’t want to listen to your voice and who have deafened their ears to your cries for help. Remember Jesus said, Vengeance is Mine; I will repay. To free yourself is to know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free. We’re living in an age where sin is steadily increasing and becoming more tolerable as the love of mankind grows cold. Whatever you do, don’t throw your life away, God hasn’t forgotten about you. I pray that you read with an open heart, and let this book speak to your spirit. You are here with a divine purpose. And last, but definitely not least, I dedicate this book to the children who died before their time.

Parents, if your child or children, tell you they have been abused (or you know one of your children has a mental disorder), you need to take that seriously. I beg you to stop sweeping abuse and mental disorders under the rug, just so you can portray your family as picture perfect. An uninvolved or uninformed parent can be detrimental to the life and health of a child. I encourage you to pray over your children. The enemy seeks to kill, steal and destroy them and our future as a society that cares about the innocent, the weakest and the least of these.

Acknowledgements

As I sit and think about who I need to thank, I try not to tear up. This book has taken almost everything out of me. I was presented the vision to write this in August 2010. I remember when I received it, I shared it with a friend and she said, If you write this story, this will be therapeutic for you. I told a few other people about it, and they encouraged me by saying they would pray for me. As I think about this novel, a lot of things happened since the release of my third poetry book Take It From Him to this point in my life, and I endured a lot of attacks (and might I add, my editor would also endure attacks during the course of editing this). I would lose some close friends and some would stay with me through my hurts, pain and tears (believe me when I say that many tears have been shed during this period). I sincerely thank those who stayed with me through it all. I have nothing but love for those I lost and I will always love you no matter what. Anyway, you will see and feel my heart through this story and though this story is fictional (though based on real-life events) it will read like a non-fiction. With that said, I now give thanks to the following:

First and foremost, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for giving me this testimony (some of it ties into this story), and most importantly, for my life. I thank You for loving me and holding me through my dark spells and through all the wrong I’ve done. Let me also say this, Lord; there were times where I wanted to give up – not only with this novel, but even with my life. I thank You for carrying me through this, because without You, I would be dead and would not see this book come to fruition. I want the world to know that You are the only hope for this world! Thank You again for loving me and comforting my tears.

To my immediate and extended family – I love all of you.

I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to the following individuals (who have sown into my life):

Robert and Shantae Charles, I thank you for keeping me on deadlines, editing this book, the great cover and photos, and for your prayers. You both have been with me since my debut book, and your love & support for me has not gone unnoticed. You are truly my brother and sister for life.

Cynthia Portalatín Lamb, I thank you for your contribution to this book as well as proofreading/copyediting
