    Preface

    You were born with an immune system and a body that is self-healing and always reaching for the best balance possible. You are nature at its finest when not interfered with. However, through ignorance human beings have created many things which, though originally intended to make life better, have actually resulted in gradually diminishing the health of mankind. The good news is that if we recognize and reform those aspects of our lives which leave us more and more susceptible to disease, there is much evidence that the damage can be reversed. This applies to humans, animals and the earth itself.

    As a PhD in Holistic Nutrition I have both taught Holistic Nutrition at the college level and conducted my own practice for many years now. My focus has always been on educating my clients and students in the hope that they will then be able to make the best possible choices on their own.

    This book is an updated and expanded version of the manual given to my clients over the years. Its current aim is to simplify what has become the increasingly authoritative and overly complicated business of health. In this regard, I also expect it to have the effect of empowering the reader to re-establish control over his or her own health.

    Some of these materials are based on the observations and studies of Weston A. Price done in the 1930’s and ‘40’s, of those groups of people who were truly and consistently well, and not just absent of disease. If true, optimal health is your goal, who else would you turn to for example but those who have performed the best?

    Since these studies, much has been observed and written which serves to explain or validate Price’s conclusions, especially in the area of food quality and the connection our health has to the condition of our soil and environment.

    Beyond that, I will tie in evidence that we are, by and large, the ones who are ultimately responsible for our health. Even genetics has proven to be only 5% of the equation (Biology of Belief, Dr. Bruce Lipton), leaving a tremendous amount of what we experience physically to be caused by our individual choices in what we eat, how we think, and how we react in life. Though we are on one level bodies living in an equally live environment, a larger and more subtle part of that equation is the energy of which all of this is made up. The tools in this book will help you to access this energetic aspect of health also, and without the need for machines, equipment, or long courses of study in physics and anatomy.

    Please keep in mind that the intent here is not to self-doctor your symptoms, but rather to show you how to create a much healthier you. The aim here is to knowingly create health and well being. There is no interest in fighting disease but rather to make disease become history as more and more of our energy is channeled into ever-improving health. And much, if not all, of what it takes to do this, lies with the individual.

    The following is intended to put you back in control of your health by correcting false ideas generated by commercial interests (food and drug manufacturers) whose advice have led to the current collection of the walking unwell that make up our culture. This work points you in the direction of learning from those whose have demonstrated their knowledge in this arena by producing a truly healthy citizenry, generation after generation. Additionally, I have incorporated data which is built on those studies, and other related fields which further the cause of self-empowerment. I’ve done my best to give you tools and suggestions that do not require the involvement of professionals or multi-level marketing groups. The focus is on
