About this ebook
No marriage is perfect. The difference between couples who have a strong marriage and those who don't lies in how they handle conflict and also in the value they place on their relationship. It is important to apply basic rules of conflict resolution when disagreements arise to keep problems from becoming a source of deeper conflict.
Basic rules include avoiding discussion of problems when you are angry, learning to be good listeners, and being willing to search for a solution rather than insisting on having your way in the matter. In addition to solving problems, great couples strive to keep love and passion alive in their relationship and do their best to maintain open communication at all times.
Protect your marriage by constantly working to strengthen the foundation of love, trust, and respect.

Introduction
Marriage is the most intimate relationship that can exist between a man and a woman. It is that strong vessel of mutual fulfillment that weathers the most difficult storms of life when carefully bound by love, trust, and respect. Marriage is meant to last a life-time and to provide a man and a woman with a haven in a troubled world. This only happens, however, when a couple works together to face the winds of change and tests of life.
Even when the sea is calm and the sun is shining, constant maintenance of marriage is needed to pre-pare for the storms that will come. Couples who have a strong marriage understand this and have learned the secrets to navigating through the raging waters of human imperfection, the hardships of life, and the seasons of change.
Challenging as it is, strong couples, like true seamen love what they do. Their struggles have often turned into great stories of success. Even their failures have become lessons learned and paths to deeper joy and understanding. Marriage, like sailing, is an adventure—full of new challenges. Sometimes it’s thrilling; other times it’s almost monotonous. At times it feels so easy, at other times it is the most perplexing test two people will ever experience.
But couples with strong marriages love the life they have together. This doesn’t mean they have no troubles, have never questioned their compatibility, and have never had to work through serious disagreements. No marriage is perfect because marriages consist of two human beings fused into an entity. No human being is perfect, and though this fusion can
