The People Magic Guide to Success at A Job Interview
()
About this ebook
- How would you handle an interview where the interviewer had no idea what they were doing... and turn it to your advantage?
- How can a scoping visit improve your chances?
- How do you avoid self-destructing in interviews?
The People Magic Guide to Success at a Job Interview is an eBook that takes you through the processes of preparing for, navigating and following up a job interview.
This easy-to-read eBook is crammed with practical tips and inside information from an experienced recruiter who has also been on the other side of the table during a long and varied career, and an employment consultant who has helped many "unlikely" candidates over the line.
The authors believe that when you walk into the room, most of the time the interviewer already thinks they know where you sit in the pecking order for the job – and if it's not number one, then this is your only chance to succeed.
In the eBook, you'll see how much attitude and effort go toward rewarding your efforts.
Robert Godden's other books have attracted great critical acclaim and in combination with Anne Drury-Godden, this offering is direct and practical.
You can download this eBook immediately... and hope that the rest of the pack doesn't.
If you plan to succeed at your next job interview, then you need the People Magic Guide to Success at A Job Interview today
Robert Godden
Something of a rebel, I apply different perspectives to my "day job" (HR) my hobby (writing) and my obsession (tea). My wife and I run a small HR consultancy that strikes most people as bizarre - no tick boxes, no flow charts, no politically correct and yet meaningless evaluations of your people or your organisation. I'm often occupied helping organisations and recruiters to implement and improve systems, plan campaigns and assist in retention. I've written a book on business and career strategy ("1001 Nights in the Trans-Arabian Corporation's Boardroom")and three ebooks. I write columns for careerone.com.au and other sites and publications and I speak at conferences and other events on my special subjects, which are Remuneration, Creative Recruiting & HR, Small Business Marketing & Branding and Career Development. I co-host a TV show - Your Business 2.0 - which was on on www.australialivetv.com until they folded and is now looking for a new home!

Yes!
You got the interview!
Well done! It's often only a small percentage of applicants that are deemed worthy of a face-to-face interview.
So, what does it mean?
Well for starters, with most recruitment situations, one of the initially-selected group who get an interview will be offered the role.
You've gone from being one of 20, 50 or 200 to one of 3-6.
Assuming there's only one job up for grabs, that still leaves you a handful of people to beat.
And beat them you must! There's no second prize. No runner-up. You win it; or miss out.
Let's assume there's five people left, including yourself.
In that group, the recruiting team is going to have some idea of ranking.
However, at least one in five candidates is likely to self-destruct at an interview. And let’s assume it's not you.
You could be in a good position – the favoured candidate from the CV's and initial screening – or you could be number five, relying on everybody else to
