Bob's life experiences span many areas. In terms of work, he has spent many years in sales and general management and was a successful registered stock broker and ended his working career as a personal tax advisor for a decade. During his career, he excelled at teaching and leading many classes of beginners in writing, investing, and tax matters. He is now `retired, ` whatever that means. He is busy writing, traveling when possible, cooking for himself and his wife of over 40 years, watching his twin grandsons play hockey, enjoying the great outdoors in Western Canada, and an immense amount of reading.Bob has experienced adventures ranging from presenting a daily market report on radio, television presentations on several subjects, traveling to many parts of the world for business and pleasure, and one of his greatest adventures, hiking the West Coast Trail on the Pacific Coast of Vancouver Island. A book followed that.

Excellent information, timely and sensible, as well. I found it all quite useful, even though I have perused literally a score of various tomes on "How-to's" for incipient authors. I found the links very useful also. Thank you!

Chapter 1 WELCOME TO THE ONE HOUR AUTHOR

The vast majority of early stage authors who want to write a non-fiction book also have a full time career and responsibilities. This book and program is dedicated to you. If you use this book as your template and commit one hour per day to your own writing, you will complete a well-written manuscript that will bring credibility, opportunity and perhaps much more to you. You do not need to be a professional writer, English literature major or a graduate student of spelling, punctuation and grammar in order to become a successful author. You do need a reason to create a book, an opinion to share, knowledge to pass along, a perspective to offer, a story to tell, a desire for increased exposure, recognition or credibility.

To be a successful author in this world, you might need some guidance, encouragement and advice and you now have that before your eyes. That, combined with the willingness to carve out an hour a day from your overloaded schedule, will create a new status for your Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter profiles; published author.

Chapter 2 SO, YOU’RE WRITING A BOOK - COOL.

Oh, you’re writing a book. I’ve tried to write a book several times and can’t seem to get past the first few pages. How did you do it?

Everyone who has shared the fact that they have written a book has heard this remark from an erstwhile, yet struggling, author-in-the-making. You may have decided to read this book because you have experienced the same problem - can’t get past the first few pages, can’t find the time, and can’t seem to get motivated. I understand what you are going through because I have either heard it many times from clients and workshop attendees, or I have used the same excuses myself.

Without much planning, I managed to power my way through my first book by leaving my job for an hour every morning, sitting at a table in a nearby shopping mall food court and spending the time writing. Because I was borrowing time from someone else, I could only justify it by making sure I accomplished something worthwhile during the hour, and therefore justify the daily ritual. I liked the routine so much that I decided to write a second book in the same manner and created a more productive working process for myself. I realized that writing allowed a creative energy to release itself and find an outlet for something that had been bottled up inside for several decades. Along the way, I spent over thirty years in various business environments that resulted in several things, but especially a strong need to bring process to a project and keep a constant eye on both sales and the bottom line.

Following the publication of my first book, The West Coast Trail: One Step at a Time, my wife threw a big party and invited a lot of friends. I sold over a hundred books that night, which was great, my ego took a big boost from all of the flattering (and a few envious) comments and
