After she graduated in 1974 and a tour in California, she was posted as a Reserve Army Nurse Corps officer on active duty to West Germany. Before leaving Germany in 1977, she visited West and East Berlin and was exposed to Communism. This exposure made her recognize the Communist threat being posed to the United States of America by President Obama. In the same spirit that she was willing to but did not have to serve her country as a nurse in Vietnam, she was willing to leave her job in nursing education and run for the United States House of Representatives in 2010. Although she was unsuccessful in the Republican primary, the blue dog Democrat she opposed in her Georgia congressional district was ultimately successfully defeated. Now with a firm belief in the power of education, her goal is to break through the normalcy bias of her fellow Americans to inform them of the underlying reasons the Democratic Party is taking us down a self destructive path. Her prayer is that the United States will leave that path with the elections of November 2012 and never go back.view less
