Nota del redattore

Frightening afternoon…

Like many of Stephen King’s other beloved classics, “Later” blends true-to-life coming-of-age elements with unforgettable thrills and chills. Jamie Conklin might seem like an ordinary boy, except for the fact that, for better or worse, he can communicate with the recently deceased. The one thing that’s not frightening about “Later” is its length: you can read it in an afternoon (followed by a sleepless night).

A BRAND-NEW NOVEL FROM LEGENDARY STORYTELLER STEPHEN KING!

SOMETIMES GROWING UP MEANS FACING YOUR DEMONS

The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin just wants an ordinary childhood. But Jamie is no ordinary child. Born with an unnatural ability his mom urges him to keep secret, Jamie can see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. But the cost of using this ability is higher than Jamie can imagine—as he discovers when an NYPD detective draws him into the pursuit of a killer who has threatened to strike from beyond the grave.

Later is Stephen King at his finest, a terrifying and touching story of innocence lost and the trials that test our sense of right and wrong. With echoes of King’s classic novel, It, Later is a powerful, haunting, unforgettable exploration of what it takes to stand up to evil in all the faces it wears.

This was a great read! I didn’t see that end coming.

Another great King book. He is the best horror writer.

I really enjoyed this book. You might read the description and decide that it sounds like a movie you saw long ago, or another story you've read, but this one is told by the master storyteller, and I found it to be well worth my time. Once I started listening to the audiobook, I had a hard time stopping.

It seems like every one of Stephen King's books has a review that reads, "this isn't the typical Stephen King book," which, I think, is kind of the point. The typical Stephen King story doesn't really exist. Maybe it did once, but not anymore.

Great book great references to other book A+ Stephen King
  • (4/5)
Engaging but pretty straight forward plot line for Mr King
  • (5/5)
Great story, great narration. Recommend for thriller fans with a touch of horror.

A good read. It is a different style
    Than most King books

Great work, a new way to get to know some of the classical antagonists of Stephen King's books. If you read IT, the shining and Dr Sleep, you have to read this book.

The story was about a 8 out of 10 . I was a little dissatisfied with the ending. The narrator was excellent. Best one I've listened to so far

This is a quick and easy read from SK! He gives us a look into the mind of an adolescent and then teenage boy with an unnatural ability with all of the anxiety and humor it deserves. The narration was very enjoyable and smooth, and I hope to hear more from him. Not too violent or gory (ok maybe a *little* gory) for those who worry about those things.

Fantastic book with superb narration. I highly recommend it ?
  • (4/5)
Wait until the end on this one - it’s worth it!
  • (5/5)
It was classic Stephen King! I thoroughly was engaged and enjoyed it!!
  • (5/5)
Great narrator and ENTERTAINING! I like S.King when his stories aren't way out there. This one worked for me.
  • (5/5)
I couldn’t and did not want to stop listening go it. Scary and entertaining . A must read!!
  • (4/5)
The way Jamie handled situations and problem solved when panicking
  • (5/5)
Very riveting! I'm not an avid reader (yet) but this had me hooked on every part. As with one watching an intense movie accompanied by sweaty palms and a fast heart beat, this story plot along with the characters had me enthralled with excitement. I absolutely recommend this book to horror genre fans!!

It was a good read! Definitely creepy. Oh and I forgot to mention weird.?
  • (5/5)
This book was really good. I got immersed right away. The narrator was a perfect fit for this story. I will be looking to listen to more from him.
  • (4/5)
I was alone for the ride the whole way. But I have to admit that I feel that the ending was rushed and a bit anti climactic. Is this book the first in a upcoming series? If so, cool, I'm back on board. But if not, the ending left a lot to be desired

A great narration. King offers up a ghost story, with many twists, turns, and surprises.
  • (5/5)
What can I say? Stephen King is a master. How many times have I read books about children who see dead people? This book Later had an edge that was completely scary. Jamie narrates the story from the perspective of a adult telling what happened to him as a child. The ending was a shock. So many good books, I love this author.

Had some twists but too predictable. Very similar to IT and The Shining. Still entertaining though.
  • (5/5)
I really enjoyed this book, it was so well written and the characters were interesting.
  • (5/5)
One of the few S.K books I've been okay with about the ending. Worth a read, or a listen.
  • (5/5)
Excellent! “Later” kept me on the edge of my seat.
  • (3/5)
Not King’s best by far but still entertaining. Rapidly paced but lacking urgency, the story never really gets going and then it’s over. Some good tense moments and graphical scenes though.
  • (3/5)
It kept my interest as I wasn’t sure where the story was going to take me. I was all in until the last two chapters which didn’t really add to the thrill of the book for me.
  • (5/5)
Stephen King.. still the master of story telling. Just when you’re lured in by the narrators sweet, innocent almost prepubescent voice King drops the horror. Lol As always well developed characters and spooky storyline. I loved it. Although I wish the ending revealed the end point for the main character James.
  • (5/5)
Narration was top-notch, and Stephen King never fails to deliver. I loved getting to know the characters and couldn't stop listening even when I was terrified.
