About this audiobook

In this emotional and powerfully erotic tale of love and redemption, a tender vicar's daughter and a tortured war hero discover that sin may be their only salvation.

When Mary Smith's corrupt, debt-ridden brother drags her to a seedy pub to sell her virtue to the highest bidder, Alasdair Thornham leaps to the rescue. Of course the marquess is far from perfect husband material. Although he is exceedingly handsome, with a perfect, strong body, chiseled jaw, and piercing green eyes, Alasdair is also too fond of opium, preferring delirium to reality. Still, he has come to Mary's aid, and now she intends to return the favor. She will show him that he is not evil, just troubled.

Mary was a damsel in need of a hero, but Alasdair's plan is shortsighted. He never foresaw her desire to save him from himself. Alasdair is quite at home in his private torment, until this angel proves that a heart still beats in his broken soul. The devil may have kept her from hell, but will Mary's good intentions lead them back to the brink—or to heaven in each other's arms?

Lovely story. Beating addiction is probably more complicated but at least reaching out to others later was included.

Bad narrative Bad Editing !! I had to skip many chapters and was a bit difficult to keep up with the rest of the story. Which was a disappointment cause it can actually have potential to be a good Storyline.

This was a good story to read. Entertaining and quite interesting.

The storyline itself was intriguing and for the most part, I enjoyed the audio book. There was a bit more angst than I can typically endure (I know, many readers love it) and the constant rehashing of the "he will eventually leave" or I must leave her so she can have a chance at a good life was a bit frustrating. I didn't get the way the H created the conflict in the way he did or the H's reaction as she was ready to do the same thing. There is an HEA and some 'romantic times' but it doesn't overwhelm the story.

I will read more books from the author.

Interesting inner struggle story. And male narrator is a change.

It was a great story. I gave it a one star because the reader didn’t remove the errors in his reading. There are many starts and stops where the reader went back and articulated sections differently. The is such a dark are beautiful story. Even with the historical placement the is extremely relatable to current events. I would have given the story itself a 5 star rating.

It was a good story but the narration was poor with several mistakes. It’s almost as if this version did not get edited.

Great storyline idea. A little longer than necessary. On the fence regarding the narrator and the author’s style. Overall, a decent read, but not a favorite.

Very disappointed!! Tedious and too long, the only reason I stuck with was it was humorous and I was hoping for a good payoff at the end. I fast forwarded through some of the most torturous stuff. Payoff not worth it!!!! Uggghh

The author clearly has love for these characters but they weren’t interesting enough to carry a whole story. It was just them the entire time, no real plot or setting.
