Author

Stacy Reid

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and adore writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese Anime and playing video games with my love. I also have a horrible weakness for Ice cream. :)

Wasn’t as bad as the reviews would lead you to believe. While our leading man does need time to get “in touch” with his emotions he doesn’t do anything that too unforgivable. All in all not the most memorable regency I’ve read but by far not the worst.

The author is a good writer, but Tobias has absolutely nothing likeable about him. 99% of the time he is hateful and awful! It's incredibly hard to listen to the audiobook. I read it first a while back and I think I didn't read him quite as angry, I guess, but hearing the narrator is hard to handle honestly.

I'll be honest, it got to a point that I just wanted the book to end.

Most of the reviews dislike Tobias, but I thought Livvie was worse.

I get that the author was trying to write her as independent, fierce & strong-minded, but she just came across as conceited & full of her own importance to me...

He was rude on 2 occasions, the rest he was reacting to her ill manners & blatant disregard for the society norms at the time...

DNF. Olivia is INCREDIBLY annoying and literally a “pick me” of that era. Her belief in her own uniqueness was completely offputting.

This book had me on edge. We all know that there would be a happy ending, but there was so much thrill in discovering on how the couple would get there.

Wow ok. I did NOT like the hero Tobias AT ALL. I thought he was a total prick who was selfish, rude and down right cold. His reasoning behind acting that way
Was BS. I get that it would affect you but that’s no excuse to treat people like they mean nothing. What a tool. So why the 3 stars? It comes down to the fact that I enjoy the authors writing and the heroine was alright. I was tempted to give it 2 stars but opted for the higher one just due to the author.

If you cannot handle an outwardly aggressive male who will, at almost every turn, be intrigued and swayed by his equally independent counterpart, this book isn’t for you. SPOILER: beware of actual character development. GASP!
