About this audiobook
An Amazon Charts bestseller.
Stay calm, keep smiling, and watch your step. In this marriage of secrets and lies, nothing is what it seems.
For days, all of Denver, Colorado, has worried over the fate of a missing child, little Tanner Holcomb. Then, a miracle: handsome, athletic Johnny Bradley finds him, frightened but unharmed, on a hiking trail miles from his wealthy family’s mountain home.
In a heartbeat, his rescuer goes from financially strapped fitness trainer to celebrated hero. The heat of the spotlight may prove too much for Johnny’s picture-perfect family, however. His wife, Veronica, despises the pressure of the sudden fame, afraid that secrets and bitter resentments of her marriage may come to light. And she’s willing to do anything to keep them hidden.
But when a shocking revelation exposes an even darker side to Tanner’s disappearance, Veronica realizes that nothing in her life can be trusted. And everything should be feared.
Victoria Helen Stone
Victoria Helen Stone, the author of Evelyn, After, is the nom de plume of USA Today bestselling romance novelist Victoria Dahl. After publishing more than twenty-five books, she has taken a turn toward the darker side of genre fiction. Born and educated in the Midwest, she finished her first manuscript just after college. In 2016, she was the recipient of the American Library Association’s prestigious Reading List Award. Having escaped the plains of her youth, she now resides with her family in a small town high in the Rocky Mountains, where she enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and not skiing (too dangerous). - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Need characters your audience likes. Better to put this female protagonist out of her misery.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It did lag in some places, and I wasn’t sure I liked the protagonist very much, or understood her reasoning at all. It was kind of easy to guess who the villain was, but I really liked this one. The ending was good and I was rooting for the protagonist by then.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was ok, but it got to the point where I just did not like Veronica, the main character- she was so whiney and annoying. I would just roll.my eyes and kind of fast forward thru some of her parts - I don't want to give anything away, but it did get better toward the end. I will listen to more of this author's books.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The protagonist was so whiny, needy and annoying. Very "only person on this planet" energy. If you're an avid suspense reader you'll guess who did what early on, but despite that it was an easy listen and not awful. I still love this author and will read more from her. Problem child was great!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Predictable, the heroín is needy and stupid, I with she had bien killed?
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Narrator was great.... Maybe because I read a lot of thrillers I knew the plot from the get go! It was a bit predictable... Also Veronica is juat a tad whiney. But a decent liaten all the same. I will listen to more of by this author..
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved listening to this .kept me interested the entire way through
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an interesting story. It kept my attention and had some good twists.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was good. Not the most complicated plot but enjoyable
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I don't think I've ever felt more disgusted by ALL the main characters of a book. All of them. The grandmother might be the exception. I guessed the culprit early on and, despite not enjoying the story, I finished hoping to see the protagonist come to a bad conclusion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book! Characters and story line were well written. Narration was good.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Unlikeable characters. Guessed who bad guys were too soon. Otherwise moved along well.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed the book as it was well written and the characters interesting. My only issue would be the fact that the “thriller” genre started a bit late in the plot and was definitely more “family drama”, but still enjoyable.
