Why are so many of us simply surviving our days rather than creating a life we love? We tell ourselves we are too busy to pursue our dreams. But what if the real reason we're putting off our goals is fear? The fear that we're not good enough, not smart enough, not talented enough. The fear that others might laugh at us. I couldn't get past the first chapter due to the audiobook narrator's voice. It's a little too chipper for me.

Nice overview of the 7 ways people handle fear, but very few definitive strategies. Take my assessment for free, but you must pay to see your full results. Listen to my podcast or pay to be part of my business program and pay to be part of my mentoring program. Also, I have a very exclusive mentoring program where I really teach you what I learned to take my business to 7 figures.

"Do it Scared" by Ruth Soukup summarizes her extensive research and theories on how our fears are holding us back from accomplishing our highest goals. Using a fun and enlightening online quiz, the reader learns their greatest fear archetypes and then how to overcome and work around them. I learned that I was a procrastinator and perfectionist which means I have a hard time getting started until things are "just so." This is really accurate - I'm great at researching and planning but terrible at getting going. Focusing on taking a step, even if conditions aren't exactly right, helps me move forward. While other archetypes are also present (outcast - fear of being rejected, people pleaser - wanting to make others like me or doing what they want, not what I want), the procrastinator really fits me. The steps in the book and on Ruth's website are helping me move forward and actually take action (instead of just thinking about it)!

"You'll only achieve greatness if you actually reach for it."What do we fear? And how does fear manifest itself in our lives? This book covers the seven fear archetypes and how we’re affected by them. What scares one person (rejection) isn’t the same as what scares someone else (making mistakes), so it’s good to examine our own type.Part two of the book talks about revisiting our mindset and work from a place of courage: knowing when to break the rules, realizing that mistakes are actually lessons, the value of persistence, and more. Part three reminds us of actions we can take to make our lives better. Celebrate the wins, surround ourselves with a great team, and find our “why”. I enjoyed the book. I found the fear archetypes very helpful in seeing how fear affects my life and the principles of courage reminded me that there are some things I’m already doing (and I need to celebrate those!). I feel that part three will help me continue moving forward. If you’re feeling stuck and want more from life, I recommend the book (and Ruth’s podcast!)
