About this audiobook

A Goodreads Choice Award finalist.

“I enjoyed the hell out of One Word Kill. Mark is an excellent writer.” – George R.R. Martin

In January 1986, fifteen-year-old boy-genius Nick Hayes discovers he’s dying. And it isn’t even the strangest thing to happen to him that week.

Nick and his Dungeons & Dragons-playing friends are used to living in their imaginations. But when a new girl, Mia, joins the group and reality becomes weirder than the fantasy world they visit in their weekly games, none of them are prepared for what comes next. A strange—yet curiously familiar—man is following Nick, with abilities that just shouldn’t exist. And this man bears a cryptic message: Mia’s in grave danger, though she doesn’t know it yet. She needs Nick’s help—now.

He finds himself in a race against time to unravel an impossible mystery and save the girl. And all that stands in his way is a probably terminal disease, a knife-wielding maniac and the laws of physics.

Challenge accepted.

The worst of MARK LAWRENCE. Its not terrible per se but it is pretty bad. He attempts time travel and I just don't think it works. So many loop holes. So many ways that his premises can fall apart. Ipso facto.

I hate the multi universe theory or at least books based upon it. It is the easiest way to sound scientific that exists. That being said this book perhaps goes a little deeper, though I am unsure.

Such a nerdy adventure! Adorable d&d dorks take on bullies, cancer and time travel.

    What a fun book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I give it one extra star to make a point that it’s THAT good. If you want a fast-paced story with interesting characters and occasional laughs, get this one. It only took me one paragraph of the first page for it to hook me in.

One of the characters have to get others to save the future of one of their friends. And it requires a heist. The D&D sessions are the most fun while it secretly becomes an important part of the their quest.

I can’t recommend it enough. It’s good. Just. Read it.
